A Starter of a Gem

Todays update is another Pokeball update bringing another 4th gen pokemon to the field. Piplup is the water starter of Diamond and Pearl.

Piplup, when it pops up, uses it’s Surf attack and slides on the stage on a spray of water. Not threatening I hear you say. Wrong! If you get hit, you slip into the water and get carried along as it slides off stage.

Yep. "Surf's Up!" Pokemons added in Brawl are getting better and better.

Eh...i guess not all updates can be good. I don't care much for pokemon, but i guess its still nice to see that they are bringing in new ones. Bring on the ATs!

So it is like Marill but cuter, and has some slippery power to back it up. I'm not too interested in that. What got me on this update was the fact that it isn't a "pre-released" 4th gen pokemon such as Munchlax or Lucario. So Lucario as a playable is up for grabs more then ever now, as well as 4th gens now confirmed in the game.

I personally loved this Pokemon and he looks pretty devastating. Sort of like an upgraded Marill. This probably makes it pretty safe to assume other 4th generation starters will appear as Pokeballs, maybe not in their first evolution though.

Pretty cool. One update to go before another weekend of no updates, so I hope the last one really counts. this update was a feasible one, however, and Piplup is a good addition to the game.

But, it seems that we are actually getting a increase in updates involving pokemon. We went for months without a single one, and suddenly, two in two weeks. Hopefully, another character is shown tomorrow.

Assuming both are in...

Well, Turtwig's most notable attack is Razor Leaf. But seeing as Chikarita already uses that attack, I'd have to guess that he bites the nearest enemy player near him, either doing minimal bite damage or causing the opponent to start a "Get off of me!!" animation that leaves them open to attack.

Chimchar, assuming Cyndaquil returns, might just shoot out a tiny flamethrower. But I also liked the idea of him jumping on someone and scratching them for minimal damage. Or possibly shooting ember sparks out in front of him.

This update was rather small and a bit lackluster. It looks like a cool pokemon, like a more deadly Marill, but this update should have been coupled with something else. I kinda feel like we got a bit jipped today.

But you know what? It doesn't matter, because Tuesday's update was amazing and I'm still feeling so good about it! Huzzah Wi-Fi!

Look at the second screenshot. Where Piplup hits Nana, you can see an impact, um, thingy. Direct contact with Piplup=damage. You can't see one on Peach or Popo, so water just pushes you.

Not a huge update, but hey its better than nothing. Alright we will see another pokeball pokemon, not bad. Seeing what will come out of the pokeballs is always fun right. It seems that water is incorporated into this game alot which is fricken awesome. The water attacks look amazing. I cannot wait to kick some a** with squirtle.

As for the alternate costumes go, does anyone think that they will throw some hats on them like in melee. Squirtle should totally have the glasses from the anime show when he was in the Squirtle Squad.

There's no guarantee of anything. Maybe he will just represent the 4th gen as pokeballs. Not every generation needs a playable character as a rep. there's been Groudon and Deoxys so does that guarantee 3rd gen is going to get a rep?

Every single pokémon-related update somehow makes it more likely that Lucario is a playable character :rolleyes:
