So... am I considered a member? At least at the moment?

Yeah I remember arguing with him about Midna in Brawl (even though she didn't turn out to be). I never hated him for it though. I'll need a list of active users though...
Good for you Parassita! It just somewhat bothers me that some ask to join for the hell of being in a group. I dunno, that's just me.
Oh yeah, it looks like Toon Link can use the Hookshot (really thought that was gonna be the Grappling Hook :ohwell:) twice in the air. Just thought that was cool.
Edit: I'll consider you a member for now until it's official I guess...:)

Oh, yeah, sorry. Toon Link FTW!!! lol. Your signature is cool... why do people not like calling Toon Link by his name? It sounds cool to me.

Have you seen the whole thing (http://smashboards.com/member.php?u=67509)? Haha it's awesome
Toon Link doesn't sound as cool IMO...I thought it was gonna be something like "Hero of Winds"...
Parassita
02-03-2008, 11:53 PM
PERMABANNED! That was hilarious. "Hero of Winds" sounds cool, and it doesn't sound like Link just jumped out of a Yu-Gi-Oh episode. Do you think a lot of people will use Toon Link? I kind of hope not, just so that the people who do use him like you or me can get good with him and basically wipe the floor with the thousands, maybe even tens of thousands, of users who use Ike or Marth.

Left behind? How so?
So... am I considered a member? At least at the moment?
You're not a member until I add you to the list!
Which... I'm going to do right now. Welcome on board. :p
I made an edit in case no one noticed.
Who are all the active ones? At the top of my head I can only think of you (Lego), Fawriel, me, Link to the Snitch, Wiseguy (I think), Stryks and thats it.
Burning Lava and Kabyk-Greenmyst! *shakes fist*

I was being sarcastic! No one understands me......*goes off to be emo*
I have one question though. It seems on certain points of Hero of Winds swordplant (dair) that it spikes down (or meteors), but other times it works as it normally does. Has anyone else noticed this? Are we going to get another move that has to be sweetspotted for one effect and get another if we don't?
Anyway...............................Hero of Winds 4 Ever!!!

His dair, it looks like it is always fastfalled, is this part of the attack or just a coincidence.
Kabyk-Greenmyst
02-04-2008, 02:17 PM
It's always fastfalled. It's like Sonic, ZSS, and G&W apparently. I'm going to assume others too. It seems like a new gameplay factor that Sakurai added.
But does anyone else notice the spike vs normal effect or it?
motsalogeL
02-04-2008, 02:27 PM
Haven't watched that many videos with him, but dang as Link in melee I usually used that move off of the edge of the stage (And then bounced back on) but that may not be possible as toon WW Link.
Kabyk-Greenmyst
02-04-2008, 03:27 PM
Yea, that's what it seems like to me. It's risky, but it now has a spike effect at some sweetspot point, so if you land it off the edge, you can bounce back on and assuredly get a kill.

Toon Link looks pretty good too me. I'd prefer a twilight princess style version of Young Link but this is okay. His down stab looks faster but that might just mean I'll suicide myself more often with it. My only problem with Young Link was his bad smashes and his slow and short roll. I hope they fixed these.

A TP styled y.Link would be pointless and stupid, but whatever its your opinion.

@ Kabyk: Are you sure it's always FastFalled? 'Cause if it is then I'm happy, I thought I'd lose my Fire Spike o_O
Hopefully it is. There are some better things that came with him though, like how you can use the HookShot twice in the air (really hoped it'd be the Grappling Hook though...)
The only reason I thought a TP version of YLink would be in was if TP Link had a second costume like Wario's, but NO Sakurai only wanted Wario to be "special" that way...d***it
Skillface

What the new dair reminded me of was Yoshi/Bowser's down special, but slightly slower.
Does this mean if you do this over the edge, you're pretty much guaranteed an SD?

don't get so depressed about alternate costumes, remember the phrase "up until now"? well, i give the phrase "wario alone is special" the same treatment

Have you heard the phrase "Everything has already been leaked and our posts are based off of the final product of brawl and not the dojo"?

Hello fellow Toon Link fans. In case you're interested, here's a video with all the character taunts, including Toon Link's: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=QlSxR3ebOzc&eurl= (His third taunt is easily on of the best in the game.)
Also, check out the Great Ocean stage thread made by yours truly if you haven't already: http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=139746

Yay! I'm a Knight now. His dair does look pretty good... I think I'll check that taunt video out. I just wanted to post, I'll be back on later, probably posting around the Toon Link boards. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this.

Wow, thanks a LOT for that Taunt video. I love all TL's taunts. The last one is definitely hilarious.

The second taunt where he swings the sword really fast and then tires out was frickin' awesome. Luigi's taunts were... interesting.

Just seeing the characters taunt makes me want to play the game even more
I expected Wind's Requiem to be some sort of attack too...it's seems really sad that Toon Link could've had really unique stuff without having to be a clone o_O
Oh well, doesn't change the fact that I still want to play the game XD
Parassita
02-05-2008, 02:10 AM
Could have... yeah. But Sakurai knows best, and he decided to do such, although probably due to time restraints. I don't mind, I like clones sometimes, or edits, like Toon Link. (BTW, could you PM the image code for your Toon Link signature?)
Kabyk-Greenmyst
02-05-2008, 02:49 AM
I'm pretty sure at this point, Sakurai DOESN'T know best. However, what he DOES know is that he owns Smash, so....ya know....can't do anything about that......

Yeah, I suppose so. He did really well in my opinion though. The clones are just a bad taste of the entire cake that is Brawl. Just a burnt piece. Some people actually like them, take me, as I've constantly mentioned, I do not mind clones and edits, especially not Luigi-fications.

Some might say Sakurai doesn't know what he's doing, but I think he is. The way I see it: it's his game, he could've canceled it if he d*** wanted to. Plus, he never really planned Brawl until if accidentally came up at that Nintendo convention in Japan (correct me if I'm wrong) so yeah...
You could just right-click the image and choose "copy image location" then paste it in the code in your sig...
but here anywayz XD

Some of you may remember when I used to post in the WW Link support thread but it has been a while, so I thought I should restate how awesome I think Toon Link is.
"Toon Link is AWESOME!"
Also if anyone calls him a clone of Twilight Princess Link, I tell them that TP Link is actually the clone since Toon Link existed first in Wind Waker. =]
Kabyk-Greenmyst
02-05-2008, 01:48 PM
L-cancel, what are you doing here? You have no place in Brawl, scat! leave this place! Sakurai deemed it so!
I say Sakurai doesn't know best, because personally, he doesn't know what kind of game he's making (made). He made an extremely good game, but in what mind frame? what genre? This is where the opinions differ.
Sakurai clearly created Brawl in the mindset that Brawl is NOT a game in the "Fighting" genre. Whereas, he should have. Do you know why games like Tekken, DoA, Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, don't have good single player modes or extra modes? It's because they are Fighting games. They were made with the characters and gameplay as top priority. Everything else is secondary.
And I just don't think Sakurai did this. In fact, it's painfully obvious he didn't do this. He made a great game, but not in the Fighting genre.
I believe many people would agree with me that they'd much rather more and/or unique characters instead of most of the extra things stuffed into Brawl.

Does Mr. Toon have a hookshot or grappling hook?

Hookshot, unfortunately.
