If you look closly at mario around 2:30 his Cape (side B) seems to have gotten much larger (I estimate about twice it's size). Please discuss!

It looks no longer than in melee.

It is barely seen, and only behind him really. Looks the same though.
Totally unnecessary frame-by-frame, sort of:

With the ability to grab the edge behind you I fear cape has lost a lot of it's usefulness. Still, having better range with it doesn't hurt.

it certainly helps recovery

What are you talking about? That has no effect on the cape's usefulness for recovery.

The cape's usefulness came primarily from its ability to reverse people that were attempting to recover. Unless you are able to send people far away from the stage (Fox's upB for example) you won't be able to edgeguard people as effectively. Since players can DI like crazy, the cape probably won't be too useful in recovery, either.

FOR recovery, not AGAINST recovery.
Mario's cape helped him in recovery because it slowed his decent and sent him up and in the direction you did the attack ever so slightly. That's for the recovery.
Against is a whole 'nother story. I think edge hogging will be more important anyways.

Look at 00:31-00:35. The person playing Peach didn't grab the ledge while it was behind her not once, but twice.

Yeah, well Peach is a special case it seems (perhaps one of many though). She doesnt grab the ledge from behind when she has her parasol out...
