I really want to try him out, Ike was my 1st most wanted character, but I don't want to main something that really sucks, so gonna give him a spin first.

Dude...people mained BOWSER. No matter how bad Ike's speed is, he can't be as hard to master as melee Bowser was.

ike will defianatly b my main even if he is slow. if i remember correctly roy wasnt the fastest either and he was my main. also knowing that he is strong makes it ok. bowser and dk r strong but not fast 2

No, Ike is a lot slower that Roy. It is basically fact that people have said that he was the slowest character at the E 4 All. People have also complained about "invisible lag" before some of his attacks, in which you press the button but nothing happens for those couple frames, then the startup animation starts, the attack happens, and finally, the lag lengthens the move. Many people have said that Ike is slower than Ganondorf and Bowser. He has no fast aerials and his lag is horrendous.
However... don't get the wrong idea from me. I believe that Ike is still usable. His moves are just extremely slow, and as of right now, it doesn't look like he'll do very good in 1 on 1 matches.

Don't base opinions off of random people using characters. At least take gimpy's observations into account before posting.

I never said that. This was more a personal opinion on him. I want to be good with a heavy character, and out of the ones revealed, I like King Dedede and Ike. So it's either both, or one of them. I like Ike enough that I'll probably play as him for a while, and who knows, he might be someone that I can use and function well with, like my favorites in Melee. Or he might be too slow for me to comprehend playing as, and as such, I'll simply play him once in a rare while. I'll learn soon enough, and until then, all I can promise is that I'll try him. Sorry for the long post. Kind of got off topic.

personally .. i am maining Ike because of i am a fan of the Fire Emblem series. But also because i loved Marth and Roy, and i realize the advantages of the sword and range. I just like playing with characters who attack with swords.

I always main the sword-slingers with ****** attacks like Aether. he'll be in my top ten for sure.

I was pretty good with Marth and Roy in Melee, and seeing as how Ike's got a killer Final Smash and moveset, he's among my three mains. See, I have four friends, twelve new Brawl character (maybe more since I checked last), and we each get three of the new characters revealed.

just to let u the 'newbs' know what we mean or atleast why people say he's slow, is because of the delay from the button getting hit, and anything actually happening on the game with Ike
see they just fix the delay lag / whatever and he won't be slow (atleast from what i saw his moves were not like way slow, he actually looks normal speed, but the delay lag is what really makes him look slow because u can see where the players in the video have slow reaction, basing a character with delay lag, with a counter!? nearly impossible to pull that off so)
just to let the newbs know, the delay lag is almost for sure gettingfixed, (for sure imo) because it wasnt suppose to be there, u know there was other bugs

edit: oh and this will make him better to combo with, or atleast he can combo when the delay lags out, he'l be much more fun and kool imo so, main him! =P

Very well thought out and well put. I do believe the same thing. Plus i heard that at E4 all the TVs were plasma so there is going to be better gameplay for those of us who won regular tvs. YAY!

Saw some videos lately were Ike used his nuetral b... It has such a good throwback that he killed two characters at 100% with hardly a charge. This could end being a good killing move since it hits in a circle around him. With this new discovery for me... it will make playing Ike a little more fun and even more of a reason to main Ike

I get what you are saying... and i agree.. the thing is, i am a hardcore fan and will play with him for sure... i just may also have other characters cuz that is just smart.

But i do know people who do say i will main this guy... then i just destroy them while they play that guy.. and they don't touch him again. Too bad.. some people can get good if they take the beating and then learn from it and practice.
