About Sakurai saying that one of the original twelve not coming back can we expect that

a) Ness is in the game, or is considered to be since he and Lucas have identical movesets

b) Cpt.Faclon is removed (don't expect that)

c) Luigi is not coming back or is an alternative costume (total end of the world)

d) Jiggles is out (waste of good moveset)

e) Two characters are out (!), Ness and another

How can you expect Sakurai to remove two characters if he said he would remove only one?

In all probability at this point, Ness is out.
The update today pretty much owned any possibility of him still returning.
I doubt he would throw out anyone else besides maybe jiggs,
just because jigglypuff is more of a novelty than anything else.

Sakurai did say that some characters from the previous games are not coming back. It's in the blog translation thread.

The "original twelve" probably does not have any special meaning though, just because they were in the first game does not make them novelty items to be put in.

I expect Ness to be removed, and if Mother gets another rep, I would prefer Claus.

The rest are staying, more than likely, although from what I have heard Jigglypuff's popularity has dropped a lot, so if a second goes, this would probably be the one.

Lucas is everything Ness is and more. Captain Falcon is still around since he's the main character and his symbol is confirmed. Luigi has been in every Mario game since Mario Bros and is more important than Peach. Jigglypuff is the second most popular Pokemon though she can still be booted.

Ness is about as iconic as Ninten is. Face it, he's no longer the Mother's mascot.
