I highly doubt it, but if he did, it would probably come right back out in a Shell. (Which it doesn't :P)

This is from the Brawl Yoshi guide. The answer is no, and to even think of it is utterly ridiculous.
Standard B: Egg Lay: Yoshi sticks out his tongue, eats the opponent, and craps them out as an egg.

It's not ridiculous at all. Look at it this way: We've gotten confirmation of item eating for THREE out of the FOUR characters in Brawl who have an eating move as their neutral B. Yoshi is the only unconfirmed one. How is it ridiculous to ask whether or not number four can, especially when it's never been denied that he cannot?

It is a possibility. It looks unlikely right now, but I'd still like to see some actual confirmation on whether or not he can do it.

To be honest, I haven't tried eating an item yet lol. We've been playing with items off since the second day or so. :p If I get over there today, I'll give it a shot for you guys to confirm/deny it.

Confirmed today, Yoshi cannot eat Items. Yoshi starves again. Ah well, that just means he'll have to eat more people. =P

That sucks. If anyone should be able to eat items, it should be Yoshi.

This sucks. I wanted Yoshi to gain the ability to eat/spit out shells in this game, and have red shells come out as fireballs. Not only can he not eat items, but they got rid of the red shells entirely just to spite me.
