Dont hope he willl be that powerful. Tournament ***gots would find new ways to abuse him in every possible stage.

I hope this is a fluke that CAN'T be replicated on command, unless it's faulty DI on the other player's part. If it's something that can be controlled to get super-low % KOs, it really could break him completely. Otherwise I'd just see it like I see Peach's downC in melee. "When the Down C comes, don't hold down"
Tournament ***gots would find new ways to abuse him in every possible stage.
Is that kind of flame-baiting REALLY necessary? =\

Marth banned cuz broken
Olimar/Diddy/Link/Peach anyone else who can spawn/has 'items' cuz cheap
Then they will ban the people with projectiles....there won't be anyone left lol.
We will be left with Donkey Kong.

It's unlikely, but IF someone figured out a way to reliably get a KO at 10% off a single hit... I can actually see that making a character banworthy. But luckily, it's looking like this is either an infrequent oddity, or something that happens when the opponent DIs wrong, which is okay.
But obviously no one is gonna rush in with a banhammer and start punting characters out. Especially after the game has been out a mere 2 weeks. There's a HUGE chance Toon Link will be just fine, but if he does happen to be broken, give it at least 6 months of tourneys, then MAYBE he'll get a ban.

I wonder if this was influenced by ASDI or multimple Smash DI. It'm thinking towards/up. Someone really needs to conclude this issue.
That, or Kizzu just plain kicks ***.:p

Well the moderators moved the topic, so everyone don't post in the other topic.
Well, anyone can test this? o.ơ
I feel that you can't control this, so is like a Number 9 from GaW.
Seems just a bug XD

Im the Zelda player on the video, I tapped Fsmash on the C stick, and I usually just tap it once and release quickly, sometimes I spam it to get it out asap, but I dont remember what I did exactly at that time, but it was a C-stick DI anyway

Yeah, DI-ing upwards and either front or back could get you out of the 2nd hit of the dsmash, which the 1st hit is supposed to combo into at any percentage, so the 1st hit has enough knockback to knock you into the 2nd hit always. When you don't take the 2nd hit, you eat all that knockback... ouch.
This might even become more prevalent at higher damages when people DI everything upwards so they don't die.

Its A Trap!
This isn't anything to worry about; Toon Link isn't going to get banned from competition (from what i've played anyway). I plan on maining TL, and from my play time so far (about a week), his dsmash doesn't do that very often. In fact it almost never happens. I've done it twice in about 400 VS matches against my friend, and both times he didn't get knocked off stage, he just went sliding across the ground (albeit kind of far). Even still...i wouldn't put too much stock into his dsmash being cheap.

I've witnessed this first hand, I was playing Dedede, and I was Dsmashed by Toon Link and got sent WAY far, almost died, not sure exactly how I DI'd.

Due to DI'ing towards the downsmash it can kill Zelda at 0%. Wierd.

There have been games where certain characters had to be banned from competitive play before.

Yeah, but Toon Link isn't one of this cases yet.

In the event where a way to consistently hit with only the first part of the d-smash was discovered, I could see Toon Link getting banned. I’m not too worried about it though because it looks like the only reason that could be reproduced is when you DI incorrectly, in which case it is your fault alone…

hmmm... this would only result in a ban if it could be done easily.
Also, they never banned fox, so you have no worries.
agian only a ban is in order if we find what causes it 100% and if it can be done with ease.

Lol looks like smash di to me. The Zelda basically was supposed to get hit by the second hit and fly in the opposite direction, and not as far, but since that hit never connected due to smash di, the first, stronger hit of the downsmash only hit her sending her to her death. This is not a glitch, it's just as much of an exploit as smash di'ing out of foxes up-air.

Wouldn't this also work with all the other d-smashes and moves that do the same thing of sucking the character in to get caught by the second hit? Like, G-dorf, apparently Pika's d-smash now, etc?

It might, someone would have to test that, and so far only my friends have brawl and not me :(

they most likely upped the knockback of the first hit to make it IMPOSSIBLE to di out of the second hit. the first hit probably sends the opponent speedily into the second strike. yet for some reason the second strike missed, causing zelda to keep going at the speed of the first strike.

Has anyone yet been able to replicate it? Or is this the only time we'll see it. If so, nothing to be worried about.

It looks like a handicap match to me. This could be fake. Notice Toon Link only uses weak arrows, and the only strong move he uses in the vid is his downsmash. If he used some other of his stronger moves, zelda probably still would of been sent as just as far.

Please see the Handicap update in DOJO.
Why the people argues that this is fake? Why the hell I would do that instead of playing the game for the first time? o_o''
I didn't tried to do this again this weekend, I'll try when a get a Wii.

If this was indeed caused by TL's opponent's consistent DIing, then TL won't be banned.

Hahah I can't stop coming back here to watch this.
It's amazingly powerful and looks kind of broken. Still, it can't be too long of a range so it should be fairly easy to avoid. Toon Link seems really glitchy though, because he has a D-Air glitch that lets him hang in the air.

Apparently anybody that has the "auto FF" dair can do this glitch, it's just easiest with Toon Link due to his dair being straight instead of an angle like others.
