View Full Version : Characters who can "DLX Hit Cancel"

Yesterday I spent some time testing out the DLX Hit Cancel. It worked fine with Falco, Snake, and to my surprise Wario. Was kinda disappointed with only beeing able to pull it off with these three, so has anyone made it with any other character?

Yes, it only works with those 3, though I greatly prefer to call them gatling combos.

Both of those names sounds really horrible, especially gatling combo. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop trying to name it that.

You know that's what it is actually called in other fighting games, right? Who the **** is DLX and why should he take credit for a technique that's as old as fighting games?

I heard the name of this move was called "Snakedashing" It was stated at smashwiki.

It was performed by Champ using Snake, hence the Snake part in the name.

Falco's is a decent combo (sometimes KO).
Snake's make a massive sliding up-smash.
Wario's is... not good, but at least he can do it.

It's not IASA cuz IASA frames last till the end of the move. These are more like Interruptable As Soon As But Only Up Until frames. :bee:

they are called IASA moves and are in many fighting games.... now let me tell you about a special move. its called the DonkeyPirate crouch. what you do is press down on the dpad or control stick. This will cause your character to crouch. Here is the trick. Dont let go and your character will continue to crouch! amazing I know. I cant wait to be famous in a videogame!

Yes tehy are IASA frames, but it's pretty sick that they are in the middle of some dash attacks now. I wonder if there are a lit more IASA attacks in Brawl?

Why are people calling it the DLX cancel? The guy whose nick is abbreviated as DLX wasn't even the first person to post about this technique here on Smashboards.

Some other guy who found out about it on his own (and who didn't demand the technique be named after him) posted about it hours before DLX did. One could argue DLX saw his thread, tested it out and then came back and claimed he'd found it on his own.

I don't remember who the guy who originally posted about it here on Smashboards is. But let's at least stop calling it the DLX cancel. How about "DA Upsmash"? Short fort "Dashattack-Upsmash".

does this mid dash IASA* work with things other than up-smash? Cause I though that IASA generally more could be done than just 1 thing...I try to avoid these sections, (due to inanity such as whoever was swearing earlier to no reason) so I haven't seen the "original" topic.

Also, if it's only DA->U-smash, why not call it that, and assume that your audience will know of the properties of that combo (or make a little * notation explaining it). This isn't really something deserving of its own name....seriously

Most people agree that this technique is called "DashLinking" or "DLink", or "DL", in honor to me, since I was the first one to post vids and info about it. *Waits for 2,034 hate replies". This thread will get to 10 pages long now. It begins. And to the guy that was asking who the hell DLX is, go youtube DanteLink or DanteLinkX, and you shall see.

PS: as I stated on my original thread, I was obviously joking about the whole name thing, I just though it was funny, as I said the name for this tecnique is DashLinking, or DLink or DL. My personal favorite is DashLinking or DL (for short).

I gues DashLinking isn't to bad of a name :) I would never call it DanteLink Hit cancel though ;)

because saying smash canceling infers that you can cancel a smash when you are are really canceling the dash, so dash canceling?

Which makes me so much more confused over why somehow DLX's title stuck...
