And that Advanced Tactics page really needs to be updated.
Needs to be ridded of non-descript names like Hyphen-smashing and DLX Hit cancel. Changing the running turn-around grab's to the Dojo's name "Pivot Grab" is needed too.
Is that true? If so, congrats to M2King.
Keep in mind that many game editors are not heavy smash players, some of which don't even consider Smash a fighter.
Great opportunity to get our tournament scene out there and make it seem "more legitimate" to some of the casuals out there who still think its a button masher.

It's not Mew2King. At least, not live. It'll be me and some cats from CA. Who, exactly? Wait and see!

Awesome advertisement like this is crucial to get gamedesigners to recognize a competitive scene and get the word out there.

I'm actually a moderator over there, and have been pushing for more compeditive insight in their fighting game coverage.
Not just Smash Bros either. I'd love to see some Street Fighter Alpha III pros weigh in on IV too, for instance. Doesn't have to be super in depth - it should be just enough to give people a taste of what they might be missing, or odd tips on how to improve their game. Definately think that this type of coverage is untapped in mainstream gaming journalism.
1up (the 1up show in particular) did a great job testing the waters with their VF5 coverage a few months back. They invited some pro players to talk a little about that game as well, which was amazing.
And if it's not Mew2King, it'll be some other "tournament director" here on smashboard.

Oh yeah, one more think Neldt, if this hasn't taken place yet... challenge the 1up guys to a few rounds of Melee. Tournament style 1vs1's if they're open to it.
See if you can get to Shane, who said on the most recent 1up yours that Smash's finess boils down to finding each character's 2 good moves and spamming them. Generally speaking, the staff's sort of in denial that a compeditive metagame exists ... although granted, that's a truth for any mainstream gaming news and journalism site out there.

Hooray! Congrats to those involved!
As Crispy said, call out Shane and maybe Milky and show them how Melee is truly played =) Mark McD is a believer I think, but he just can't get into it =S
So jealous of you guys, hugs and kisses for the 1UP group for doing this.

I'm not the person who'll be showing off Smash skillz. I'll leave that to ma boys HugS and Gimpyfish.

Big thanks for the info. Make sure someone brings a copy of Melee, just in case.

Hugo n Gimpy?
Sounds the best two people you could find to counter Shane's argument. I'm looking forward to this.

I totally think someone like DaShizWiz or Silent Spectre would make more of an impact though. HugS = campy Samus while Gimpy =...well. Funny Boozer. Massive shine/aerial combos sound more impressive though :)

Not sure if you're allowed to say, but are Nealdt/Gimpy/Hugo's appearances on the 1Up Show:
- one of the three segments of the show
- one of the skits in between the segments (doubtful), or
- one seperate show, a "Brawl Competetive Special" show dedicated to you guys?
Crossing fingers for the third option! =)
PS: Convert Mangod at all costs!

My mind has been blown.
If ANYONE can make the mainstream gaming press understand the competitive Smash community, its these guys.

SilentSpectre doesn't talk and DaShizWhiz lives in Florida. Besides, we're fighting a lot of negative stereotypes that these guys will help with. HugS is a well-spoken, friendly, and polite Hispanic smasher who's literally the best Samus player in the nation. He counters: "all tourney players are pasty white guys"; "all tourney players use Fox"; "all players spam the two best moves" [he only uses 1 move ;)]; and he brings the legitimacey of someone who's actually won large tournaments (the most recent being UCLA V with 125+ entrants).
...and Gimpyfish is just Gimpyfish. He'll rape them with BOWSER using 50 different moves. And he's ****ing Gimpyfish.
unreon: it's either 1 or 3.

I wrote up two blog entries on All is Brawl (http://www.allisbrawl.com) about the segment and how the filming went. Check them out! (http://www.allisbrawl.com/blog.aspx?id=1) I'll be answering questions on my blog if you wanna leave me a message there.
