Beat 100 Man Brawl, then defeat Falco

Ganondorf- Clear "Classic" mode on Hard with Link or Zelda
Play 200 Brawls
Have Ganondorf join your party in SSE

Jigglypuff- clear X amount of event matches

Lucario- Play 100 matches in Brawl, then defeat Lucario
Complete the Target Test on all difficulty levels (this can be done on 1 or 2 player mode), then defeat Lucario
Get Lucario to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

Luigi- Play 22 matches in Brawl, then defeat Luigi
Beat Classic Mode using no continues, then defeat Luigi
Get Luigi to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

Marth-Play 10 matches in Brawl, then defeat Marth
Finish Classic mode on any difficulty, then defeat Marth
Get Marth to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

Mr. Game and Watch- Fight in 250 brawls
Clear Target Smash with 30 different characters on any single difficulty level
Have Mr. Game & Watch join your party in The Subspace Emissary

Ness- Play 5 matches in Brawl, then defeat Ness
Reflect 10 projectiles, then defeat Ness
Get Ness to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

R.O.B.- Play 160 brawls, and then defeat R.O.B.
Get 250 different trophies
Get R.O.B. to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

Snake- Play 15 matches in VS Mode on Shadow Moses Island
Play 130 matches in VS Mode
Have Snake join your party in the Subspace Emissary

Sonic- Complete Classic Mode with 10 characters
Play 300 matches in VS Mode
Complete the Subspace Emissary
Many players have managed to unlock the character by playing a large number of 4-player brawls, though too few to qualify for the 300 matches listed above. Some players have unlocked Sonic in fewer than 50 4-player brawls. The exact details of this method are still in question. It is likely that a certain number of combined distance must be travelled for this method (similar to unlocking the Tails trophy).

Toon Link- Beat classic with X amount of fighters
Beat classic mode on hard w/ link


Wolf- In the stage "Ruins", skip the first door you pass when being lowered in to the pit. Instead enter the second door at the bottom and defeat him. (Note that this must be done after completing the Subspace Emissary mode)
Play 450 VS matches. Then, defeat him afterwards.
With Boss Mode unlocked, finish Boss Mode as Fox.

I fought Toon Link after completing Classic Mode with a certain number of fighters.

Jigglypuff was fought after you've cleared a certain number of Event Matches.

Play through the Subspace Emissary. Lucario is part of the main story.

Yeah, I feel the same way too, but it's too early to etch it in stone; who knows, one day maybe someone will find a new technique or whatever that will change the game?

I finally got Lucario through SSE. ^_^ And for those who don't know, Target Test lvl 5 is attained through Classic mode. When you get a target test stage, as part of your classic mode run-through, if it's lvl 5, then you beat it and clear classic. Then it'll be unlocked. At least that's how I got it.

Unlocking Jigglypuff is just playing Event 25 on hard (you don't even need to clear the event, just playing it is enough.)

Yeah, I forgot about that. It's kinda funny cuz usually Jiggs is the first character I unlock (Classic mode). The other day I realized that I didn't get her yet. lol Anyway, how do you unlock events beyond Event 20? I played all of them up to 20 on all difficulty settings, but that certainly wasn't it. (I kinda wasn't expecting it to.)
