View Full Version : New Pikachu edge technique?
its almost like an edge canceled thunder, but it's not exactly canceled.
All you do is get on an edge, do a ledge hop, with no DI (don't DI forward to the stadium).
By now, you should be in the air right above the edge. Now you can thunder. Momentum stops and you get back on the edge.
This can be used to mind game. If you are edge hogging, people will try to get directly on stage. With this technique, you can make a vertical wall stopping them from doing so.

This is not exactly new as it could be done in melee(though it was much harder and required u to quick attack after the thunder), but it is definitely useful. Especially since you grab onto the ledge after the thunder. I've been using it in matches and it's been working fairly well.

Yeah this isn't really new, I think someone said this quite a while ago, maybe Anther? Anyways I like the edgeguarding you can do with this, if they try sweetspotting they get hit with the base, and it kills them, if they try attacking, they get hit again, if they try going over you they get hit with the thunder above. ^_^ Pretty much all they can do is wait for it to end lol.

I love using this technique as an edgeguard. It annoys my brothers a lot. I always tried to do this tech in melee but could never land it without SDing. Just don't use it all the time or the opponent will find a way to counter and punish you for it.

This is like the first thing I tried when I realized there's little lag after Thunder. I guess the only hard part is getting on the edge fast enough. I guess quick-attack to edgehog is okay, but it's still hard to get in position. I bet it would be pretty cool if you could run->turn around thunder->edgehog -> thunder edgeguard.
