Okay here is something I feel is important especially against smaller characters; however, first let me give some backround information on general characteristics of Toon Link's attacks incase some people aren't aware what I am going to discuss. As most of you know his Dtilt and charge attack can cause a tripping like effect where the opponent is vulnerable, this applies to other characters as well (see gimpyfish's metaknight thread). Anyways this isn't in my opinion a powerful way to start offense with toon because it doesn't always happen and uptilting out of shield or upsmashing out of shield at higher percents is much more viable and consistent. If anyone has any insight on possible pro's of the matter I am all ears.

Here is where we get to the air part. Again this may have been posted but his neutral air actually causes this same tripping like effect frequently it would seem. Now everyone and there brother are going to be expecting Rar's and you constantly spamming his Bair. Still do this as it in itself is powerful and you can use momentum to prevent being shield grabbed. A nice technique though, especially against smaller characters, is do a Rar so your first Bair doesn't hit keep your momentum going past them and neutral air into there back. This is all done on a shorthop. At low percents this is nasty because if the Nair hits and trips them its basically the same as landing the Bair as you can them uptilt them off the ground and start a Bair combo.

In the current brawl state, you can't just run around and spam Dair shine etc... so it is nice to play an extremely safe style and do not become predictable. Doing this has many benefits: You can not be shield grabbed as you are facing behind them, if they are getting used to and Ftilting your Rars you start this one early so you are not concerned about landing the Bair just so you have enough momentum to fly behind them Nair them (especially good if they have a laggy ftilt), and also this has serious combo potential at lower percents if the nair lands and trips them this leads to an uptilt. So basically by incorporating this you can help toon links already nasty air game even more by becoming less predictable.

Note if this has already been posted and fleshed out my bad, I didn't see it. I am sure that someone else didn't and this is for there benefit anyways. I am 100% sure people know of this I just wanted to provide my feedback on why it safe and also still keeps combo potential. I am open to others opinions on the matter and anything similar. DISCUSS.

Reverse ariel rush. Basically dash forward => Mash the control stick in the opposite direction => and do a back air. Basically this allows you to do you Bairs going forward which is a nesseccity as Toon Link. I should be noted that this can not be done in the intial dash animation if I am not mistaken someone should clarify this.

Yea I dont think you can turn during the initial animation. You have to wait a little bit.

yes, on a created stage the distance necessary is 2 blocks. I found this out using the auto-RAR technique with b-sticking.

Also, I find when I do the RAR, instead of a b-air, just to keep them guessing, I'll air dodge past them and use my neutral aerial. basically what your doing, but a bit more safe.

Yeah that does sound actually safer and is good if they are trying to time high priority tilts, plus if they just shield you are behind them so you don't have to worry about be grabbed. Thanks for your input I'll definitely be using this more frequently.

Thanks, those are some handy tips. I also like to diversify Toon's game in general by trying to throw in some ground moves like a hyphen smash when they might expect an air attack. I think this can further confuse opponents if you can even keep them guessing which direction the attack will come from, let alone what sort.
