Hello, I'm maining Fox and I got no problem to beat the most opponents, except for Toon Link. I don't have a video me playing, but somehow like that (http://youtube.com/watch?v=RU_h5bywb78) I'm losing.
Every time he beats me, so I want to main a second. And here is my queston, which character counters Toon Link at best? Diddy Kong? Wolf? Ike? And how does he/they counter?

And what about Pit?

Marth and Wolf are beasts against Toon Link, ESPECIALLY on platforms. In Toon Links case, BATTLEFIELD IS A COUNTERPICK TO HIM. Yeah, so watch out. I have a friend who I can beat no problem, but he wins on BF. Really annoying.

Try Wolf or Olimar. They absolutely destroy Toon Link. Olimar more than Wolf in my opinion though.

Like Cooper said, the best counter for TL is Olimar. Wolf isn't actually that bad, if you know how to deal with him.

I have trouble with Pit too... I haven't played anyone decent with Wolf/Olimar though.
Toon Link's just a beast. THERE'S NO ESCAPE.
But no, seriously, I reiterate Olimar being a tough matchup for Toon Link. I personally have trouble with Falco myself, but I wouldn't know if that applies generally.

I think the main 3 are gonna be pit, wolf and olimar.

Fox isn't neccesarily a bad pick against Toon Link after all he has a reflector, you could choose better though. I've heard Olimar is really tough for Toon Link but i havn't faced any online yet, i only started maining Toon Link about a week ago.
I don't see how TL has an issue with Pit.

Go for Luigi, seriously. His priority in the air (especially his nair, which just makes him a floating hit box the entire time his foot is out) is just insane, and his down B spin move can move you across the entire level, and it beats any move or projectile that TL has. So the enemy basically just has to run for his life.
THEN, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF CHOOSING LUIGI TO BEAT TOON LINK IS:
Try to run around beneath Toon Link whenever he is up in the air to lure him into a dair. At the last second, roll out of the way and punish him with a rocket punch since Link's dair has so much lag time. It's pretty much a guaranteed KO past 70%.
I'm not kidding. I main Toon Link and my friend mains Luigi. He's the only one who's very difficult to beat.

I would agree with Olimar, but I have to admit I also have a lot of trouble with Marth. Before you give me the response of "just distance him with projectiles", keep in consideration that projectiles don't kill. Sure, you should spam them as much as possible, but ya' gotta go in for the kill sometime, and what I've seen is that Marth seems to simply out range Toon Link. So many times have I got clipped with a forward smash or combo'd with forward airs. Thankfully Toon Link is "floaty", and can avoid Marth's DAir Spike for the most part, but still, Marth for me is rough.
Luigi, eh? Never fought a good Luigi, I'll have to keep an eye out though. I'm not doubting you, but until I see it happen in person I'm on the ropes about that. Your "At the last second, roll out of the way and punish him with a rocket punch since Link's dair has so much lag time." strategy, while sound in theory should you manage to dodge, isn't really realistic. A familiar player of Toon Link would know not to spam this should this be the situation. Not saying that Luigi isn't a counterpick to Toon Link, I'd just keep in mind that there are other alternatives to approaching or attacking with Toon Link that are probably better to take in your situation.

I don't see how TL has an issue with Pit.
TL projectiles are slower and have less range than Pits arrows...a lot of the times youll get hit before TL has even let go of the boomerang or arrow...though not completely removed, it does kinda handicap TL's range game.........thats how i see it anyway
for this reason id recommend Pit...i hate that guy...with a passion that burns like a protesting monk
Not that Toon Link has an issue getting getting inside Pit's range to matchup at close range. Any projectile user knows which player is able to outspam the other and when he needs to melee him at close range.

Don't use Fox. His up-b, as shown in this video, sucks. Two times you were using it but then he used his aerial and you died.
Perfect that drill shine.
Also, make sure you don't jump and land right in front of your opponent without attacking, as you did in the beginning of the vid. Try to make every move hit. And don't get hit.
The best thing for you to do is to analyse your video yourself and see why you were getting hit, what you did wrong at each moment.

I have trouble with one Ike in particular, a scrub friend of mine from melee. He's really really tough, his A-spam (my group of friends refer to jab as "a-spam" for this player, because he uses it so much) seems to outprioritize my RAR bairs. And he uses that charge b defensively.
I haven't really played any good Olimar's, but Marth seems to be a good pick. Very strong, easy to play, and can outrange TL on the ground and in the air, and has some spammable kill moves.
If you have issues with Marth/Ike, you aren't using projectiles enough.

Only quoting you because your name is amazing. A little known song by the best band in the world.
My handle is Crownless, and I play ingame as Crown.
Just sayin' hi.
So as to not hijack the thread for Amazingwish, how does everyone fare against Lucas?

Projectiles don't kill, sir. They tend to take a few, then land nasty aerial-smash combos, just run away and bait me until I get bored/frustrated, or outrange my RAR'd bairs/Sh nairs/fsmashes when I try to capitalize on a bomb/'rang hit.

Wolf - Not a true counter imo. Just a tough challenge. What you have to do is space it so he doesn't hit you with his fsmash or dsmash, which seem to be popular with wolf players. Use a lot of fast moves on him like the nair and usmash (especially out of a shield). To get past laser spam, just jump over them and/or airdodge cause sometimes they'll jump and shoot. Make sure to projectile spam, and mix it up. By that I mean the timing in which you throw them and which ones you throw out. Try to predict what he does, especially the reflector. You can just punish them if they reflect at the wrong time.
Marth and Ike aren't bad. This is a lot of spacing and projectile spam. Use a lot of nairs. Bair as well, but not so much. Make sure to shield accordingly. Ikes Jab combos and his smashes, and Marth with his forward b combo and double fair to fmshas. Airdodgin is also your friend.
Luigi isn't bad against Toon link, but its not hard for toon link. Projectiles plus bair and nairs work. He has high priority, his moves are quick, and he seems to be able to combo toon link well.
A good Pit seems to counter Toon Link. I played X-Team or whatever on gamebattles and just got raped. He's fast, and its hard to projectile spam the guy. Its just that one Pit though. If more people play like him then I'd be afraid.
Olimar seems to be a counter (maybe even soft counter). He's short, so its hard to hit nairs out of a shield, and his pikmin are always in the way of projectiles. If you stay too close, he'll shield grab you, so you have to go in from behind. This matchup is a hassle. I jsut try to get him off the ledge and get cheap edgehog kills.

it all depends on the level of experience of your opponent, TL is good against IKE, but if the IKE use is really good your probably gonna lose. My friend only uses Peach. in melee ONLY peach and now brawl peach isn't good against all characters but he kicks butt with her. so it all depends on experience

Fox is already a good counterpick because of his reflect move, other counterpicks I would recommend are Wolf for the same reason plus his amazing fsmash range, and Pit because he can reflect and outspam projectiles. Hoped this helped, and good luck.

I always have the most troubles with my friends marth, i can get him high in the percents, but he's always able to keep me away from him so i can't get the kill easily.

Olimar is definitely a good choice against TL, but only if you actually practice w/ him. I've gimped too many olimars way too easily because they didn't understand how to recover properly with him. But yeah, Olimar has insane range/priority. In addition, his pikmin, when attached to you, actually have the bomb hit them when you throw it, causing it to explode on you. This may seem like, "ohh, well you just get them off you before you attack", but in the middle of a fight, you can forget about them all together and get messed up.
I really haven't faced any marths that are worth noting so I can't talk about him. But can someone explain to me how marth is better than TL on battle field? I mean, battle field is one of my favorite stages simply because I can camp below the platforms w/ u-airs and bombs. Does marth really out-shine TL on battle field?
As for pit, he can be a bit disorienting at first if you don't know how to approach him correctly. The first time I went against a Pit his arrows would usually hit me before I could pull a bomb, or boomerang him. But like other people have said you should approach him w/ sh air dodges, or running shield dashes if you can manage that. When you're in his face you will win out because you simply are better at that range. Bairs/Fairs are good for spacing, and then when you're pressuring him you can just wait for him to hop in his shield and then you grab him out of it.
That's what I got for now.
