This trick has probably already been mentioned, but I have not exactly seen it anywhere. The closest thing I saw to this was in Aether's Toon Link guide. He said:

"Bomb canceled D-air - With the correct timing, from almost any height, and at the cost of a little percentage, you can minimize the lag on your D-air by throwing a bomb downward, and then D-airing into the explosion. If timed correctly, you'll have the ability to whiff a D-air and not have to sit around for half an hour while T. Link takes his sword out of the ground. If you hit, generally it's a bomb followed by a D-air so your opponent is hurting."

Well that got me thinking. A toon link could z drop a bomb before trying to dair spike an opponent. If he missed the opponent, he would run into his bomb and cancel his downward momentum, thus avoiding plummeting to his doom. The bomb would also force the opponent to have to dodge a projectile. If they did not dodge the bomb, it would make it even easier to land the dair spike. So, I believe that this would make the dair an easy ledge guard technique. You could just stand on the ledge and when an opponent approaches short hop and z drop a bomb, then land and short hop again into your dair off the ledge. I hope that this is new and helpful to all you toon link mains out there.

yes already known, however very situational, and most of the time there are easier and less risky options. still, it looks pretty cool so u get some points there...

Isn't it true though that for Toon Link, when he drops his own bomb, it won't hit him in the air? Or does dairing it make it explode?

The downside is that (atleast from my experiance) that T. Link can't attack his bombs so you have to get the timing right with the bomb to actually make it useful. Also doesn't T. Link move faster than his bomb when he uses his Dair so you'll pass the bomb (normally, or atleast over extended distances) when you dair?

I figured he would move faster, which is why i thought it would be best to drop it off the ledge then land and then jump again, giving time for the bomb to fall and at the same time providing the opponent with another attack to have to avoid, cuz if they dont dodge the bomb they cant recover in time to avoid the dair, sorry that this isn't too useful (mabye just for flashy ko's) or new, just thought it might be worth mentioning if nobody else had yet.

If you're really high in the air (Like offscreen) and you dthrow the bomb and dair, you'll run into it
