I can't manage to pull off the short hop, shoot an arrow, and bow cancel/bow draw/quick shot a second arrow. When I try Toon Link just lands with the bow or fires the second arrow with the full draw animation. I've seen Kizzu from the video section use double arrow if you dont' know what im talking about.

You have to SH, and then draw your bow RIGHT after you SH. Then as you come down, draw again.

It takes alot of practice, but eventually you will pull it off. I use the classis controller, and set jump to y, so the jump and special buttons are right next to eachother. I basically have to press my special button RIGHT after I press jump, or else the cooldown won't be enough for your arrow cancel draw at the end.

Hope that made sense.

It's timing, just keep practicing. You'll eventually learn it through muscle memory.

Make sure you shoot an arrow on the way up from the short hop, and then one on the way down. Listening also helps a lot.

Kizzu doesn't play TL anymore : /

bind r to jump, it'll help a lot until you get the timing down

when i learned, the reason i couldn't do it at first was i wasn't shooting the arrow quickly enough after i jumped. The easy way to learn is slow it down in training. you'll know you did it correctly when he shoots the arrow with his shield on his arm.

For some, it helps to set special to like R (on gamecube) since it's difficult to get your thumb from jump to B

the trick to learning the initial timing is 1/4 speed in training mode. SH, arrow immediately, then just as toon link's feet touch together as he falls, fire the second arrow. The visual cue for the arrow cancel is that toon link's shield remains on the back of his hand as he fires the bow- that's how you know you've done it right.

Personally, I still have a hard time doing it. I can do it freehand, or by cranking my left thumb over to the b button if i've got the space and time to do so (it's quicker than you think), but the best way is to map jump or arrow to different buttons so you don't have to use the same finger to hit both buttons (you have to go from jump to arrow in like no time at all)

hope that helps

just listen to these guys and you will be SHDA in no time. Its all about the timing and like QUIVO said one u get it down its all up to muscle memory then and it becomes 2nd nature. Just draw the bow RIGHT after the SH and u should be good.

any specific tips if you enjoy your default controller settings?

personally, i like the default controller settings. i actually do what smashless said, pull my left hand all the way over to b, he's right when he says you can do it a lot quicker than you think, but usually only when i have the time/space to do it right. since then i've trained myself to do it the other way, but until then i used my left hand.

Yea, I forgot what buttons to use lol. You don't want to be trying it with control stick (at least IMO).

I like to use Y and then slide my thumb to b.

ah, i got it.
Took about 4 minutes in practice.
I have muscle memory assigned to X for jump.
uh....what that grammarless figment meant:
I can't use any other button for jump
but it's still quite easy.
Use those Mario Tennis skillz from the GBC days:
"You worked hard! Swinging your racket 200 times in 10 seconds"
: )
