Ironic how the only dair you did the whole game is what killed you :)
I think you need to send more arrows his way. I think your projectile game is better so try sometimes to keep your distance and put some percent on him. Excellent use of bairs into an utilt.
Try to send some zairs sometimes to keep your distance and maybe arrow cancel?
Other then that seems like a nice tl.

I noticed you didn't use much boomerang unless you were edgeguarding or off the edge. There were a few times when you could have just did a slight retreat with a boomerang/arrow to momentarily stun him so that you could go back in again and start attacking. That was just mainly when your spacing with bair was a bit off, but it did fine.
I used to do bairs to utilt as well, but recently I've found that if you just keep on bairing them until high enough percent you can just uair afterwards and that's like 0-68% I think? It does a lot of damage and you wouldn't risk missing them after the utilt.
That's all I've got really, your Toon Link looks good. I need to ditto it.

Haha yea I noticed about the dair. That move can be your worst enemy sometimes.
I dont remember if I even wanted to do that, I think I may have wanted to do a Bair cause i wasn't even over Wolf's shield.
Ill work on squeezing some more arrows into my game. I noticed that I could of done quickdraw after alot of my aerials instead of just landing on the ground.
Thanks for the advice

Thats true, I need to work on using my projectiles for different situations and using them in different ways instead of just once instance where I'm edgeguarding or coming back on stage.
Thanks for the advice. I could work on being more defensive sometimes and using my projectiles in a more defensive way, especially when I have a two stock lead.
If your ever in Texas we could ditto. I dont have wifi :(

You're pretty good, I must say. I wasn't a huge fan of your combo vid, but you did half-decent against that Wolf. Though I must say you could've used more projectiles. Boomerangs and bombs are your friends..............spam your head off. If you mix it up between all three, you will screw them up good. I myself try to use them continuously until they forget that they are fighting someone with a great aerial game, then i combo them silly. Also, it helps training with someone with quicker hands than yourself. My bro is an ex-peach turned MK, so you know he has fast fingers. I still can't beat him, but training with him helps me loads on facing others because I have to go faster or i die a horrible and painful death (he is very good at edgeguarding). I'm trying to get him to put our latest video of him beating the living rap out of me, but he's takin a while. Once its on, I'll post it for yas to discuss. I myself think i did terrible, but that may be because i refuse to spam arrows. I'm a boomerang and bomber.
Also, i've tried to use the zairs, but they just don't seem to be helping me at all. Are they really necessary, or are they just a precaution? Reply plz. Thx.

If the MK likes to down throw.. wait till after he throws you, DI away and zair,
the chain will hit him as he pursues you

It 's helpful to create distance and stop opponents from coming at you attack after attack.
Atleast thats what I do it for; spacing and creating distance after I've been hit.
Hope that helps you a little bit.

Exatcly my problem. He don't dthrow much at all anymore. He's the "shield pressure the crap out of ya, get you off the stage fast, and make it edgeguarding the whole match" type of player. I don't know how exactly he does it, but he does it and he does it good. He does really good at the local tourneys, and there are some goodins in the area. Pleez Help Me!

Yeah, if you strengthened your defensive game with projectiles, that MK wouldn't have rocked you.
Also, include some UpB after shields in order to not stale out your moves.
I love your aerial control game, though.

How do you do in tournaments? Your TL is really good, almost plays similar to mines. I'll try to get some videos up of mine. I got some other tricks that I notice other TL don't use/do
Edit: I do have 1 video up from a few weeks ago but it was during a crew battle and I was playing like a scrub lol also the other TL user is like the only other TL main in my area.

I'm game for a Toon Link throw down lol.
I agree with you though JesiahTEG, Nair is too good for spacing and comes out fast.
Though I might try the Zair idea, it seems really good but I don't think it'd have enough hit stun. If anything it'd give you a second to breathe.

I played in one tourney about 2 months ago in San Antonio. There was over 60 entrants, maybe 80.
I got taken out by Sethlon and tied for 32 I think.
But I took him to three and lost by one stock so it wasn't bad.
He's just tooooo too good.
With texas being so big and me living in the goonies, it's hard to make tournies.
But ill be going to my second one June 28th in San Antonio.
Good video. After watching it a couple times I still had trouble knowing what you were going to do next. Very nice. Good mix-ups

The best advice anyone gave me was "Don't get hit" lol but seriously don't run into his up tilt it rapes. Against snake gotta use arrows more bombs take more time to come out/throw and snake can spam the nades/sliding upsmash more and faster than tl bombs. Just gotta keep up the spam and not give him any breathing room. Snake can also edge guard pretty good.
Jellyfishn
06-06-2008, 12:43 AM
Nice job completely nerfing Snakes recovery! I agree though, just try to keep him as far away as possible. Also, if Snake likes using the upsmash as an edgeguard, I normally try to get above it and dair it. In most situations it is not usable, but it works decently well...... That or use the invincibility frames on the edge.

I do need to watch jumping into rape. Especially with Snake's tilts being so strong.

So in the meantime I need to gather what other people say on my toon link and keep their critiques inmind and try to become a better player.

**** u have an amazing toon link. great use of bombs. i really like your aggresive style because it helps you "controll the match" along with bomb spam... but i have a suggestion.
sometimes it might have been better when you were about mid range to be abit more defensive in a way: when you have forced snake to one side of the map, spam him with projectiles and when he is forced to come to you, you can retreat. good retreat tactics to use when you have alot of space behind you are (1) jump cancelled bombs while running away, (2) while jumping/moving away you can sh bomb pull > quickdraw(or reverse quickdraw) to either sh bomb throw to run away and jump cancel bomb. (3) if he crawls you can short hop and then z drop the bomb in his path so he cant attack and has to get up...good time to use a boomerang.
these are a great way to rack up damage and piss you opponent off.... that being said, i am definitly not advising you to stop being aggressive at all which i think is the best thing possible. just saying that if your attacking his sheild, sometimes a litltle variation can throw them off their game. try some of that^ once in a while to be less predictable and get a free %10 - 20
lol....wall of text.
anyway good luck :)

Nice vids Santi. I only watched the Falco and one MK video. I'll watch the rest later.
Anyway, the Falco match you didn't use the platforms! You could've jumped over his SHDL onto the higher platforms. (Or get him on there to combo him) You also didn't punish his recovery well. I think he recovered the same way most of the time. Over b into the middle of the stage. I did like how you stopped it with the arrow though. I'd just recommend siking him out and the running back and smashing/grabbing him.
Btw, did you try DI away + zair'ing when he was chaingrabbing you? I noticed you did it maybe twice, and I never really thought of trying that. I've thought of using up b, but that'd be too risky and leave me vulnerable. I'm sure TL's zair is faster than most up b's anyway.
Metaknight is such a bad matchup for TL... lol. One thing I've learned is expect them to tornado your shield, and then space themself further away from you before the animation ends. After that, it's almost guaranteed that they will spot dodge right after (if you chase them). So don't aerial or grab, just run and up b. It will work. Other than that , I'd say try being more defensive. Sit in your shield more and try to punish him. SDI out of his multi-hit moves and try to protect yourself when you're recovering.
One thing you might want to try is throw a bomb up at them instead of uair. Uair is hard to hit against MK if he spotdodges. So throwing a bomb will sometimes just fake him out and you can follow through after the bomb.

I need more practice with that matchup.
Also after the match I was thinking of how I could punish that side B when he doesn't sweetspot... (that move is way too fast)

Dont be afraid to projectile spam if you need to.
LeeHarris

I think Santi is the best Toon Link I've ever played.
Since I play Link as a counter to several characters, I know how important projectile spamming is.
When I played him in tourney, he beat my Falco by doing the most effective projectile spamming I've ever seen. It was insane. Even with my reflector, I couldn't keep up. A lot of people look down on that for some reason, but it is an amazing ability.
My Ganon, however, is too dirty for Santi. ;)
Also, I think you asked earlier about what to do against a Falco side B when he doesn't sweetspot. I'm fairly certain TL's up B will grab Falco. I know Link's up B hits Falco, but I can't remember what TL's does. You should try it!
