I don't get it. Does anyone else break shields as toon link often? I break my opponents like almost every match. It's kinda funny actually. I get a fully charged F-smash every once in a while (:
But seriously, the only reason I see this happening is my bombs. Are they notorious for breaking shields? Or are my opponents just failing miseribly at power-shielding attempts?
Anyways, usually all it takes are 1-2 volleys of quickdraws, a bomb or boomerang, and an a-combo. Maybe it's just the people I'm playing lol.

Regardless, it's just funny I think that people don't try an spot dodge explosives.

You are just a total god.
...Or I'm just that bad.

It doesn't really amount to much though, as it's not like TL has PK Flash or Eruption.

That doesn't really happen to me, do you play with people who shield a lot and hold it for a long time?

^ That must be it.

I don't think anyone's shields would break that often if not for that..

I almost never break shields with TL, only with marth.

Yeah, same as everyone else in this thread...I have never broken a shield with Toon Link, or any other character besides Marth for that matter.

On a random note, what happens if you powershield shield breaker?
Do you take shield damage?

No, it just nullifies the attack. It's happened to me a few times. And I really don't think the people I play shield alot, it's just when they do it's because I've set them up for a pounding (aka f-smash, and they can't do anything but shield).

It's deff the people you are playing against. If I ever got the chance to fully charge a Fsmash in one of my friends' faces, they would spot dodge the first hit or drop their shields after the first hit, and then grab me or jab me or w.e. I sometimes get close to breaking sheilds, but my opponents aren't that noob, but as a result I'm aware that they are going to have to either dodge, take a hit, or break a shield, which puts me in prime position for offence.

Anyways... no I don't break shields, and your friends need to step their game up :P

lol. Have you played Master Raven or Jingo Joe on the smashboards.com/ff/ ? I have. And they're 2 of about 5 people that I've broken shields on. I think I've broken Boezy's shield too. Not sure though. It might have been a differant Ganon.

And to the post above: I've never shattered a shield with a fully charged f-smash. I'd never be able to beat anyone if I was that bad lol... It's once I break the shields I get the F-smash off.

marth's B signifigantly reduces shields, true to its name.

I meant powershielding.
Wait, so he pulled off a full charge Fsmash before the shield broke?
You are playing some bad opponents.

If shield breaker gets power shielded it gets nullified, just like any other attack. As I said, it's happened to me a few times.

And no, I've never charged a f-smash before I shattered anyones shield. It's after I somehow frequently break a shield that I get to punish my opponent.

I think the trick is that most good players with T. Link or any character for that matter CAN get the opponent to break their shield, it's just they don't. Let's just say I get your shield at half to 1/3 it's strength. Most people stop or avoid using their shield when they see the size of it. Seeing this, people stick to their strategy as before, or begin poking the vulnerable legs of their opponent. I don't. Immediatly when my opponent tries to spot dodge instead, I only start using quickdraw then. Most opponents don't see this as part of my gameplay, as of until now I haven't used it. So it's either they spot dodge then get hit, or continue use of their shield. Bombs are always the breaker for me, as I tend to throw one wherever my opponent plans on going. I have a very active mind lol. In most matches, I count how many times my opponent rolls left/ right/ gets up in a match, and I use that as a placement for bombs/ boomerang. And practice. Knowing how far any character rolls helps alot with this. If you time it right (which I tend to do), there's always a few frames (5-10) where right before you spot dodge your shield appears, aka power-shield. However, bombs tend to over take your shield because it hits both your body (where the reduced shield doesn't cover) and your shield. And this is always how I end up breaking it...

Now, I've played in quite a few melee tournaments, but no Brawl tourneys yet, so it probly is my opponents. But I think I found a strategy to getting a free killshot. Of course, aerial characters would not have to worry bout these things.

My point is, amybe that's our trouble with MK. We can pressure ground opponents to do what we want, but aerial opponents we can't. Think about it. It makes alot, ALOT of sense.
