Help w/ bananers?

Whenever I face my friend's diddy kong with my toon link, he, of course, uses naners like crazy! If I try to bair combo him, he'll either shield or just keep rolling, and then throw naners when he can. The only projectiles I can use when he does this are boomerangs and bombs. I pretty much spam bombs on him until I can get an aerial or a smash on him. Is this a good tactic? Any advice will help. Also, when I try to approach w/ a nair, he's just too short, so it normally grazes him and does no damage. Any advice on this too would help.

(btw I do grab his banana's and throw them at him, but it still doesn't keep him at bay for long)

stay at medium range and use bombs and bomerang as much as possible. When ever you can try to land a nice U-smash that can lead to b-air combos

use his filthy naners against him. projectile spam the area and until you can move in and throw his naners at him. it's not very effective in the short term, because of the short time it takes for them to disappear, and the fact that he can pick them up and make them his again. But if you can make him trip on his bananas frequently he may be a bit more hesitant and cut down on the naner throwing.

Don't let this strategy interfere with the match. Don't sacrifice your positioning or anything to grab the banana. just do this whenever it's convenient for you to pick up his bananas.
