this is something I might have discovered but i can't be bothered to look at EVERY post on mario anyway:
when you are grabbing the edge if you tap the opposite side of you're facing (to get out of the edge) if you hold B whilst doing it, you cape. This cape makes you wave-bounce so you automatically grab the ledge as soon as your cape is done! I find it's a very useful technique and really boosts my game with the red-capped plumber!
