Hi, I'm more known on the MK boards, but I'm here wanting to know how to pick up Toon Link...

Why:
1. Well it is my belief that in order to be good in Super Smash Brothers Brawl you should be well rounded and learn about your enemies (intel)..

2. I know how to beat them, but learning how to use him sounds appealing

3. The other day I did not do so well in Very Difficult, Classic Mode, TL

4. I used to play play Young Link as a second...

So I was wondering if the kind people of the Toon Link boards can give a few tips on how to excel with TL...

(Dont worry I know my terminology)

It's a link to everything you need to know about Toon Link.

Most important threads in my opinion are:

- SHDA Thread
- Bow cancel techniques (some of these are obvious, but you know, no need to discover anything yourself when you can read it online, mirite?)
- Jump-canceled throw
- Toon Link Match-up and Stage threads

Also read some of the basic guides, as well as read about RARing. Other than that, Toon Link hasn't been experimented with well enough. It seems eve n we Toon Link users have yet to scratch the surface of his ultimate potential in spam effective projectile zoning.

Yeah, don't be obvious with dair :), learn to control your boomerangs for a good projectile zoning game

I also have a question on TL's grab...
I feel that it is awesome move but when I try it the range seems to vary and it seems like its short some times and long on the other...

Also since I'm used to short SH's is there anything else aside from the bair that can hit your opponent near ground level in the beginning of his jumps that will actually hit and not fly over your opponent...

His hookshot is the same each time, unless you're offstage and near a ledge. It will grow, though not as much as (ZS)Samus' and Ivysaur's as far as I know.

Unless you're playing one of the shrimps (Ness, Kirby, Metaknight, et cetera) all of his moves, sans dair, will hit from a short hop. A dair will hit if you're standing right next to him.

His Nair is amazing. Lighting fast, good knockback, damage, etc.

Well, the first thing you should do with TL is learn to control DI REALLY well. I mean, even if you're a good player, it's no easy task keeping your DI in a useable way with TL. You're probably good at short hopping, so learn to SDHA and quickdraw. Look up vids of Santi and Kizzu and look at how they play. They constantly short hop and fastfall with their back to the opponent for easy Bairing. And yeah, get used to never ever using your Dair.

so true. In cases I've been able to use the arrow gimp to a DAC upsmash, makes for a good finish.

Also... is there also any more videos to watch from talented players? I learned pretty well from dissecting videos of Ken and learning some tricks from that one video of PC Chris vs. Ken of the SSBM tournament in Anaheim Final Round

Kizzu and Santi are both good TL players, there are a few others, but I don't remember their names. ;p

Ya, both of those people are good. If you want to see a video of how awesome RAR + bair can be, its something like bair naked bonage (I think thats right) of Santi. Theres a thread of it somewhere in here.
