View Full Version : Practically using the shield

So recently I've been thinking that Toon Links shield might be the edge he needs to out camp other campers. I'm pretty sure we all know what it does, but basically if TL is standing with his shield in front of him it can block projectiles. All it takes to get to the stance where he holds the shield that blocks projectiles is pressing 'A' for your basic swing and not continuing the standard combo. Once in that stance it can block almost all projectiles (Haven't tested snakes) the only ones making it past being ROBs laser, G&W's sausages and Pits arrows (Din's fire didn't make it, none of the space animals B's made it, Lucario and Samus' B's didn't make it, Ice Climbers B didn't make it). Thoughts?
EDIT: I know, I know, you have your regular shield, but that breaks after so many constant attacks and can be broken if you're being barraged by a dins fire or samus' missiles, while all you suffer with his shield is being pushed back a little.

There is a lot of talk about shields on the Link boards....i'm sure many of the techniques are applicable to toon link but maybe not
for one...links shield is bigger so it can block better.
2. Toon link does a lot more animation "moving around" than link which forces him to drop his shield.
Link players will tend to use the shield a lot more than Toon Link players from what I have gathered.

Umm...I like to crouch when I'm getting spammed by charecters like IC, like with projectiles that hit low.
As for the animation or "moving around", you can just crouch for like a quarter of a second every once in a while so the animation doesn't have a chance to start.
Pros have some ways of making they're shields almost block everything, although I got no idea how they do it. Although you should test it with Link, as it's proven that his bigger shield lets him block more.

Wtf? I could maybe start to believe that if any pros played Toon Link. <_<
