Whenever I watch team tourneys, I always watch for moments when the fighters chain moves together into an effective offense. But when watching some other tourneys, certain teams will look more or less cohesive. That got me wondering. Who is the best partner for each character? Well, since I’m a casual Brawler, and I don’t have the expertise to judge, so why not ask the experts? I originally tried this on GameFAQs, but the users in general were immature, or not qualified to give the information. Then I remembered the specific boards on Smashboards, so I brought the poll here. So who do you think the best partner is for Toon Link?

Rules:

- The poll will last for a week. If it becomes popular, it may last longer.
- You may only vote for one character.
- Assume friendly fire is on.
- Assume there are no items.
- After posting your answer, give a detailed reason why you choose that character. If you don’t give viable information, your vote will not be added.
- You may ask to change your vote if you have a viable reason.
- Discussion on your choices is allowed. NO FLAMES!!!
- If you vote Pokemon Trainer, you must discuss details for all his pokemon.
- If you vote on the Pokemon Trainer poll, you must discuss details for all his pokemon.
- If you want to use videos to explain your reasoning, feel free to post them, but remember. I play this game casually, so you have to explain what parts of the video are important and why they are important.
- You may vote on multiple polls.
- If issues occur, I may add or remove rules, so be sure to review the list.

My friend and I did a TL/Pit team and it worked surprisingly well. We took a game off of every team we lost to in pools and brackets (if we didn't beat them of course).

But IMO, anyone that can tank lives or can kill pretty easily would work well with TL.

you need to give a reason for Pit

Toon Link is someone who does damage, but can't kill that easily.
He would be best paired with someone who kills easily, or helps Toon Link set up KOs, 'covers' for Toon Link when he spams projectiles, and covers for his bad match ups.
I think.
And I have no idea who that is.
I think Marth covers up for some bad match ups.

Triple D anyone?

Can get the KOs, rack up damage easily with chaingrabbing and can easily juggle to help TL set up for RAR'ing etc.

Waddle dee and bomberang spam works like a dream.

Maybe Marth. Marth is like Toon Link... but backwards. Marth fair=TL bair. Marth no projectiles but quick melee attacks. TL projectile sniper/spammer but more of a surprise finisher. Wouldn't opposites do good with each other? TL could snipe behind Marth and make the opponent close in on Marth, who then softens them up for a surprise fair/dair/hyphen smash from TL. It could work... but of course there are complications like having Marth fend off two at once... or maybe you're up against a Fox who spams l@z0rs.

Anyway, I think Marth and TL could work well together.

Dk and TL make an excellent pair DK covers power and range and doesn't get killed easily if the TL knows how to spam items and setup Team attacks.

I think a good spiker is a must; TL severly lacks in that department. Combine a good, fast spike with TL's downsmash glitch (slinging them off the stage from slanted terrain) and you've got early kills.

Falco seems like a good candidate. His projectile is even spammier than TL's, and when both are combined the team can control all approaches, even covering each other as they go in. Falco's chainthrow can immobilize an enemy long enough for TL to hyphen smash it, and TL can cover for Falco's lack of prowess in offstage recovery. With their long-ranged and varied projectiles, they can even shoot each other to recycle a third jump.

Pit is a good stock tank. The only problem is Pit can't kill well.
Toon Link's not the best stock tank nor killer. Toon Link is just meh in teams. So the team is meh, I think it was just because of the team work or skill level or something when we played.
