View Full Version : Wavebounce or Something New?

First off I don't have a vid uploaded, don't hurt me! However I will explain to the best of my ability. It's like a Wavebounce but on ground, you don't to jump at all. It works with all characters but with Ike it's more noticable. So what you do is Start off running in any direction, and here's the tricky part, you want to time it so that you press the control stick in the opposite direction a split second, I mean split, before you press the B button. Ike should Immediately slide the opposite way (and face the opposite way) while charging an eruption. You can release the eruption before the slide is over also. Something new?

No, that's a B-reversal.

however, it may require some looking into, since retreating (as a bait) is a pretty awesome part of Ike's game that doesn't receive alot of notice aside from retreating F-airs.

I know retreating pivot grabs work well against certain peoples' dash attacks, and sometimes retreating quickdraw>f-tilt hits people, so who knows, run away>reverse eruption? run towards>(bait forward roll) reverse eruption?

`.`; meh. When I played Ike in March, I messed around with B-reversals alot and couldn't do them too well. I can do it alot easier now, so I'll look into it.

Hmmm...from the OP, you say to press the opposite direction right BEFORE you press B. To my knowledge, you usually press the opposite direction immediately AFTER you press B for the B-reversal. Am I mistaken...or do both ways work? I always perform my B-reversals using the latter.

For people who want to see a visual demonstration of practicality, I did one in my recent video:

Basically just used some foxtrots away to bait an attack...and came back with the B-reversal.

Sounds like a B-reversal to me.

Yeah, it might be B-Reversal. I haven't read anything that mentions B-reversal affects speed (when going in the reverse direction). I dunno. I have a couple replays, I'll record them and upload them later. Thanks for the input.

Hmm, using Ike's B-Reversal as something useful. I'm intrigued.

I read somewhere (and if not, I have seen) that B-reversals reverse all momentum.

So it applies to this.

Yeah, it's that (@5:48, didn't what the whole thing), but the only difference is the slide. I get a way longer slide than that. But I have to run, not trot, meaning I have to wait after the IDA before I can perform the technique.

yep, still a B-reversal.

Speaking of that, I remembered some things I used to try, since everyone seemed to have forgotten about B-reversals with Ike.

blahblah B-reversal tricks:
Eruption
Hopefully you're familiar with an aerial neutral B reversal ( [jump] > [tap back+release] > )

Well, you can try doing a 'manual wavebounce' and add a second B-reversal after that.

So input wise it'll be like
(run) [jump forward] > [tap back+release] > [B]-[tap forward].

It 'bumps' you backwards slightly as you fall.

[b]Quickdraw
If you do a [forward]>[back], you reverse all momentum as you charge. So if you're jumping into someone, you'll suddenly turn around, move backwards AS charging (instead of falling forward into them) and release to quickdraw away. If you're running forward, you can use this to 'feint' an approach, retreat, and possibly even bait an approach to punish with F-tilt or F-air.

If you do an aerial [back][B]>[Forward], you will get bumped backwards while charging a forward quickdraw. Not sure what applications this can have `.`;

[b]Counter -so I definitely didn't know how to B-reverse a counter until I made this post. I tried to figure it out in training mode just now and got it! (lol wut a nawb)

Input: [down][B]-[back]

In case you didn't know, you can counter from a full run, so if you do [down][B]-[back], you'll slide backwards slightly and do a counter facing the opposite direction of your run.

If you're in midair, it will reverse your sideways momentum (and stop your rising momentum) and cause you to fall a counter in the opposite direction. This means that if you jump backwards and do a B-reversal, you'll fall forwards with a backwards-facing counter. wtf?

And just for the heck of it, you can do a "double reverse" counter and pull off the same things.

Input: [down+back (more down than back)][B]-[forward]

Cool, is this in the guide, 'cause it sounds useful. I'm new to Ike so I haven't really seen any of these put to use. I noticed that all of the above techniques are for Ike's aerial game. When your in actual matches, do you spend most of your time using aerials? On a side note, does anyone remember the Inverse boost grab (I think it's called)? I've found a way to perform B neutrals in a similar fashion. I Know, still B-Reversal.
