Can you edgeguard with TL's up B?

I was playing my friend one day and he was using TL and I was using marth. He did an up b at the edge on the ground when I did my dolphin slash (marth's up b) to recover. For some reason I didn't grab onto the edge, but I wasn't in fallspecial either. Does TL's up cause some sort of wind to push people downwards? If so, why didn't I enter fallspecial state?

No. Its some random thing that happens with recoverys.
If you hit the ledge a certain way you just fall.
Best known for how often it happens to Wolf.

You can use Dair to edgeguard.
Not sure it'll work good against Marths recovery though.

Marth's recovery is l33t. It gimps itself on Final D and doesn't afraid of anything.

There are actually several segments of the Dolphin Slash that auto-cling to the ledge (TL and other high vertical recovers have this too), but it seems Marth has the most numerous.

It's really impossible to edgeguard his recovery (unless you gimp him before, edgehog, or knock him out in-between), but his options ON the ledge suck. He either gets up, does a ledgehop aerial, does a ledge jump airdodge, or ledgehop airdodge. On a blue moon,maybe his get-up attack has some use, but it sucks really. Probably one of the worst in the whole game.

Marth is excellent in guarding the ledge, but not quite recovering safely from it.

Dair as an edgeguard sometimes works on slower recoveries, or another Toon Link at a weird angle. As for Up+B, don't ever think of using it to guard the edge. <_<

Not even if you're falling off to use it? You know, where you initiate a standing upb, but slide off the ledge to grab?

Or can people sweetspot through you in the time it takes you to drift down to grab it? :(

You do realize if they grab it first your dead.
and you could just run off the edge and grab it instead.

It would be easier to just grab onto the edge and take your invincibilty frames than to do a possibly suicidal and extremely complicated edgeguard move...

I haven't tried the tornado to edge guard, but what's more useful is using Toon's hookshot recovery. You get invincibility frames while tethering in, so time it right and Falco/Fox/Wolf/Mario/Falcon/etc. lose a stock.

After the hook shot hits the ledge and you press z again to pull back up/roll onto the stage, you get invincibility frames.

I think you get invincibilty frames after you pull up your tether and start holding onto the edge. You don't get invicibilty frames when you are hanging on the tether.
