Really it comes to trial an error. Make sure you have either L or R set to jump so you can shorthop with your thumb on B (Unless you're fast, it's possible to SHDA with X&Y as the jump) and fire away. If you zoom in on TL in training you'll note after you fire in air when he's coming down from a shorthop his boots meet, that's the window of time you have to fire the quickdraw arrow.

Keep on practicing it.

What I do is use Y and then slide to b. Listen to the TV too, you should be able to hear the timing if you get it at least once. Eventually it'll just become muscle memory.

I would go to training and start at 1/4, and get the timing, then move up to normal speed. Before too long you just get the timing and do it every time.

So all this time I thought I could do it right, but now I realize I wasn't. But I went off earlier and practiced it, and I had it down in just a few minutes. Arrow at the height of your shorthop, and arrow again right as you land. Pretty simple :P

I also managed to do that one thing, where you do a reverse arrow as you land. It shoots off in the same direction as the first, but you look like you're shooting in the opposite direction. This took a bit longer to practice. But yeah, I guess it COULD be useful, leading into bair combos and the like :D

Lol I thought that for a long time too. I knew what a short hop double arrow was, but it never clicked that that was what SHDA was for a while lol.

I do it on accident a lot, but when I try to do it I always fail, same thing with samus' missiles

what i do is i set r to special and press jump (x) and R at the same time to do the first arrow and time the second arrow as i land. made it a lot easier to do.
