I've noticed lately that alot of people point out Toon Link as some all powerful character who anyone can use.
A few arguments I had with a few people.
Cosmik-It means if you aren't good with Toon Link you aren't good at brawl.
Just spam projectiles and Downsmash when they get close. ToonLink takes tons of skill, right guys?
Me-Heh, that might work on the lower levels of brawl but once you get the past the point of playing level 7 computers it won't.
Hes easy to pick up and play, but as stated before once you start playing people who are actually decent you'll find him very hard to play.
Ska: Toon Link sucks, anyone can use him efficiently.
Me: use him? Yes, Win? I don't think so.
Ska: meh, hes still an easy character to play with, doesn't take much skill.
Me: Okay, well why don't you pick up Toon Link for a little while, maybe a few months or so, then enter a tournament and let me know how you do.
Ska: I think I'll pass.
as you probably guessed, I do find Toon Link easy to start off with, but hes much harder as soon as you start playing decent opponents. What do you fellow Toon Link players think?

He's a difficult character to play with. When did you have those conversations? Because when the game first came out everyone was like" zomg toon links iz top tierz OMG he pwnz!!!", which isn't the case now. He projectiles require lots of practice to master, and because he is a diverse character, you have to use more strategy than most. He takes a whole lot more skill to beat someone with than snake or MK IMO.

Lol.
His metagame IS really good though, he's a really deep character so he takes a long time to become competent with, let alone master (which IMO no one is close to yet)

Brawl matches are so boring to watch (especially when friendlies are over the corner). So...what do you mean? o_O

lol at barge, and toon link, is definitely NOT very easy to just pick up and play (I mean if you actually wanna do well...) I main him now, because of his awsome combos I can make with bombs (and because windwaker is ftw :))=] But, he takes alot of skill to master and is quite complex... Atleast, that's my opinion.

I would just like to point out that any character in brawl is mad easy to use, it takes like 10 minutes to figure out how to do any AT with any character.

As a whole, I agree Brawl matches can be quite boring. The only person that I've really enjoyed watching was Anther, and that wasonly because itw as in person

**** those ppl.!
Tink takes much skill to play. I've been maining Tink for 2 months now and still constantly able to find things to improve on. Using Tink for the first time, u wont be bad with him but u'd be far from good either. Toon Link at a glance seems easy to use, but in reality hard to master.
Spamming projectiles and Dsmash??!! yeaaa that'll work against a lvl 6 cpu but against any human player??!
wtf are these guys talking about...Im Pissed off!!

Spamming projectiles
Actually, while doing nothing but spamming projectiles is bad, some spam to get another to approach you or keep them off of you is good.
and Dsmash??!!
Do you mean Dair?

To me, Toon Link has one of the highest learning curves to play EFFECTIVELY in the game. Personally, I think only maybe Pokemon Trainer, because you need to learn all 3 pokemon at once, Diddy Kong in terms of utilizing Bananas, and Falco in terms of going pro may have higher learning curves. Ice Climbers are close, though. Toon Link is extremely awkward to handle if you're used to anyone else, (especially if you're good with Link). His moveset is COMPLETELY wonky! If you're facing someone midair, your first reaction with most characters is to Fair. With TL, that's a free whack in the face due to Fair's startup. If you're above someone, obviously you'll Dair. With TL, this can be dangerous to your health. Learning to train that urge to Dair and instead make your way to solid ground can be tough. When you're on the ground away from someone, most people will approach with Fair, dash attack, Ftilt, a special move, or hiding behind a projectile shock-trooper style. TL, though has only really two options. Bair, and projectile-spam followed by Nair. Dash Attack usually isn't reliable enough due to how unsafe it is on block, although this applies to many characters too, so bleh. Learning to keep your patience spamming projectiles, and mixing up your style between combos, offensive play, and camping/defensive play in order to hide your motives and when you're planning a finisher is a real turn-off to many people, as they would rather not have such a complicated character, and would rather choose a simpler character who's a bit easier to use, like Kirby or Marth.
People simply look at TL and see his tremendous strengths, and assume that they take no skill to master without actually trying to learn them. The inexperienced people usually say the same thing about characters like the Ice Climbers and Lucas.

luckyyyy. man I wanna see Anther play a match.
Toonlink is sweet to me and Toonlink made me really far on my first tornament and however I do to many suicide moves and cause the match. and if I be able to master the suicide combo i'll be alright.
