Ugh, I suck at Brawl now. ;_; (Did I mention there are videos?)

I'm really depressed at this. My Marth is like trash now. Trash (;_;)! But my Toon Link is still...usable. But I feel as though my gameplay has slowed down. I think I may be going back to bad habits (like pulling bombs out at close-range) and other stupid stuff. I don't know if I can stay competitive in Brawl or even keep up without getting left behind since a few weeks off and I play like trash...

Yet some people like Lv.99 don't suffer from this. I'm very envious of this. I'm actually angry I can't keep a constant skill level without grinding at the game for hours on end. =/

Excuse Lv.99 for failing at Wolf. I hear he's working hard at picking up the bugger. I call TL, Wolf, and Pit the "Unfortunate Three" since they were overhyped during Brawl's early metagame but have slowly been forgotten as the months go by.

I would cry at Marth boards, but I have no video proof of my Marth up because it'll bleed their eyes dry (and I wouldn't want that to happen, lol).

I wouldn't get too down about it, just focus on the little things and work your way up. If I feel like I am playing worse, after taking a break or for whatever reason, I'll just play a defensive game and just study my opponent for the whole game lol. It works for me.

My serious advice:
Take a break. Don't stress it.
Don't play Smash for a day or two.
Just for a day, pick other characters. Preferably people whos play styles don't work for you (aka suck with). Then go back to Marth/ Toon the next day.
Try playing people who suck. Your self-worth/ confidence and stuff like that will come back.

If you want a more agressive TL you should play a nair/quickdraw/hookshoot (?) game.
I mean progress with SH NairArrow cancel, sometimes try to juste FF + quickdraw if you want to presure the adversary when you tuch him with nair, juste FF and Hoockshoot+FF and again Nair+FF to hookshoot, it's the best way to agress someone etc ...

Santi says that's not too good because you're vulnerable for a good amount of frames and it's just a bad habit to pick up overall (he said this to me in June in my video thread).

I think his close-range game is so-so, not good, but not like "OMG terrible either." A lot of characters have better jabs and quicker attacks than your jab combo and Nair/Bair and Dtilt/Utilt and Fsmash/Usmash. Marth and MK especially tear TL's close-range game down to pieces (sigh, MK...).

Lol, j/k. I think you read your opponents better on a more consistent basis though. I still find it funny our TL's are so similar because I developed my TL independently for the most part (I read about Zair in a topic that died the next day because we wanted to know who the best TL was or something, lol) without ever knowing of your reputation on the TL boards.

See, with Toon Link, while one mistake does get you killed pretty badly, against another projectile user, you can at least cover up and do something farther away than Marth. I guess that explains why I did much better with TL this time around.

Oh, and nah, I've loved Marth since forever (like in a non-homo way), I actually thought everyone in Brawl but him was BORING (yes, even TL). It's just you have to think so often about what to do as Marth that it's hard to thrive in Brawl where everyone whores their spammy-moves. =/

References aside, I can't help with Marth. Even though I say that I play him I've never put much effort in learning to play him yet I just needed someone similar to Roy. You're probably just in a slump, take a brake or play different characters. Eventually you'll be as good as you were before so don't focus on it too much.

Well actually its probably because that was the first time I used Marth in months (my Marth phase was ending and I was moving onto PT), but no Johns. I just shouldn't pick him outside of fun.

It's good. Wolf is a lot like Toon Link, he has a lot of traps and stuff. Plus he out ranges a lot of stuff other than Zair (which isn't fast enough sometimes).

Ugh, I don't know what to do against it w/ TL. At least with Marth I can Dolphin Slash, and Fair outprioritizes it so that it can stuff it.

the problem that i have with Wolf playing with TL is his downB, when he's in the air and touch the ground, i think is the best time to attack, but his downB stops me :(
i don't even try to punish his fsmash, but i do punish his dmash, my friend always do the same thing, fsmash then dsmash (i don't know about Lv. 99), so i just shield and wait for his dsmash, then i attack
i have problems with TL, but not with Lucas :)
