Need help with zair

okay, i am trying to incorporate zair into my game, but for some reason, I can't short hop all the time when trying to do zair. I normally do an full hop. Any suggestions? I can normaly short hop when doing something else like bair or any other aerial. I use the y button to jump. Could that possibly be affecting it?

Perhaps you're not aware of you pushing Y too hard as you Zair? Because really, just do it in a shorthop like any other move.

Do know to do it as you descend from your shorthop (DON'T fastfall though, you'll lose the Hookshot hitbox).

Try to explain better please, maybe I can try to help you more if the problem isn't just with hand coordination (which you never ask me to help you with).

Actually Viet it doesn't matter how hard you push it. You just have to release the button before you jump (the lighter you push it, the easier/ faster you can release).
But yeah, try to press X or Y as gently as you can. But it has to be fast. Just like a fast flick or something.

Use Zair while your falling, not going up (unless you have the kind of mindgames o_O)

I think the problem is your trying to press Z as soon as you jump, which you don't have to. Use it after the peak of your jump.
