Over the past few weeks I have seen a lot of posts talking about TL's Spin Attack, thinking that it can refresh all of your moves after 1-2 uses. This, however, is wrong. All of his specials count as one (1) move towards refreshing your other moves. For example, I would have to use 10 different Spin Attacks to refresh my up-smash that I used earlier. This does not mean that your up-smash gets diminished at all after 1 use. Your first use and your second use of up-smash will both do the same amount of damage and knockback as long as you used 10 individual moves between the first and second use (and none of these moves can be your up-smash). Arrows, bombs, boomerangs, dash attacks, aerials, smashes, tilts, grabs (up, down, forward, and back) and grab attacks all decay and help refresh decayed moves. So, basically, every move you can use that does damage will refresh your moves. As many of you know, any time you come in contact with a hitbox (player, shield, breakable object (Wario's bike, statues on Castle Siege, pillars of Luigi's Mansion, etc.)) your moves will be refreshed. Don't go and use a Spin Attack on one of the breakable objects, use something faster that you never will use (dtilt, dash attack, even your jab combo). You will get 2-3 more hits in compared to using a Spin Attacks.
* Use it out of shield.
You can Spin Attack directly out of your shield. This will catch a lot of opponents off guard, especially if you mix in shield grabs with it. It's a great way to rack up an easy 10 damage. And, if they try to shield grab you during your Spin Attack, they'll just get sucked in.
* Some characters will get sucked in even if they're holding shield the entire time.
Larger characters like Bowser, DK, Ganon, D3 will almost always get sucked in regardless of their shield level, while some smaller characters will still be sucked in only if their shield is kinda low.
* While being used as a recovery, you will only "lunge" for the edge if you are facing towards the ledge while using your Spin Attack. Always try to face the stage while recovering with your Spin Attack.
* Now for some bad news :(
Spin Attack loses to Mach Tornado
It gets out-ranged by TL + Link's grabs, and Shiek's side-b.
Out-prioritizes by a lot of other moves.
Hope you guys learned something from this, and I hope it answered all the questions about Spin Attack and move decay.
