Toon Link and "Boost Tossing"

Now, being the curious and open minded member I am of the smashboards community, I stumbled upon something very interesting on the Link boards. They as of now are calling it "boost tossing" but it looks very useful for TL. And guess what? There is a vid!

From 1:33-1:38 it shows TL doing it :O. Now from the looks of it you can kinda toss a bomb backwards and link it into a bair chain, I'm practicing it as you guys read this.

Apparently this was known for a long time on the link boards but the guy who made the video didn't know it. Bombsliding is the apparent tech name.

I never thought boost smashing had much effect for Toon Link but I guess I gotta learn it now. Thanks Soup!

But yeah...do you do a dash throw with cstick down while a bomb is in your hand, and then up + z to catch and throw it? I don't know. Especially since I can't see the video >.>

All you have to do is boost smash like if you were doing it with Link. The difference is that it is Toon Link and we are holding a bomb. Now, for the backwards one it's really giving me some trouble to learn. But the first toss where TL tosses the bomb and throws his arm up should be the easiest out of the two.

Your controller does not need to be configured.

You guys can try all you want to do a backwards one into bairs. Its no use, you need to be too close to pull it off. The bomb will hit you if you are too close.

If one of you thinks you can pull it off, then prove me wrong and record a match of yourself actually doing it in the heat of battle. We will know if you did it or not, cuz toon points to the ceiling to mind gamez people.

Anyway, it's kinda weird and funny how TL points his arm up after throwing it. Can you perform an action during that time? I'm going to go try this out.

I want to work on my Toon Link, but I found that (for me at least) TL is horrible on wifi, and I have noone to play with offline :[

Edit: Just tried it it doesn't slide far but the bomb throw has less lag and you can perform attacks after it.

Zaf speaks truth. I worked on it a little, and realized the boost isnt considerable enough and that doing it backwards needs difficult spacing.

By the way, when he points to the ceiling, that's the wrong one.

When he does that, he throws the bomb forward, then throws his arm upward as if throwing the bomb that was already thrown.

BUT, when you do the reverse one, the bomb goes forward and you see the throw animation backwards so you can start your bair combos.

The one where he throws his arm up is easy, but the reverse one is not consistent and Zaf is right about spacing. Good luck to anyone trying to perfect this one...

Oh well, maybe this is foretelling that there will be an explosion of new techniques in the future, some of which will turn out to be useful :)
