View Full Version : B-Sticking TL?

Recently I've started using TL with a b-stick for 2 reasons. For one thing if you run, jump and then press the c-stick in the opposite direction you are running, you'll throw the boomerang and move in the opposite direction you were running. For anyone who also plays as Ness, this is similar to what happens when you jump and then b-stick in the opposite direction with his PK Fire.

The other reason which might be a little more of a reason to stick with the control scheme is that if you just run and then b-stick in the opposite direction without jumping, TL will automatically do a short hop with his back facing the opposite direction. He also loses little momentum while doing this, so this seems to be a more efficient way to do a RAR. Doing a RAR with the control stick is more difficult and you often lose more momentum.

I was wondering if anyone has tried this yet with TL, or if anyone can give me any compelling reasons to switch to a different use for the c-stick.

A wavebounced boomerang is not worth losing your c-stick smashes. RARing is easy enough as it is and, tbh, isn't really a major part of TL's game. It is easy to see coming and is not a very effective way to approach (if you even plan on approaching).

Faster and more consistent smashes via the c-stick and the ability to do aerials using the c-stick easily outweighs the pros of a wavebounced boomerang and auto RARing. It's a very bad trade off; stick to c-stick smashes.

Wait, so "wavebouncing" a boomerang just means that you throw it in the opposite direction as you run away? And they had to put "wave" in the name?

LOL

No, "wavebouncing" is the same thing as b-sticking. You don't just throw the rang in the opposite direction, you use the c-stick to "bounce" yourself backwards. You are able to keep your momentum in one direction (or completely change it, for that matter) while throwing your rang. And hey, I didn't make up the name :D

I do this without b-sticking. >_>

Yeah, I was thinking that aerials would be a good reason to switch back, though I would argue that doing smashes is easy enough the same way that doing RAR is easy enough without the c-stick. Being able to do a fair while moving backwards or vice versa a very good thing.

BTW, I didn't know that was called wavebouncing. My bad.

They're both the exact same thing. You can use the words interchangeably.

Well, wavebouncing seems like a more concise way to say it anyways.

Same. I sometimes make this turn into Up+B if I do it too quick and it pisses the **** out of me.

It's really easy actually.
