Ike Vs. T.Link: The matchup discussion.

With the cheezy Brawl Taunts meme out of the way, I would like to let all of you Toon Links out there know that the Ike boards are currently discussing stradigies/movesets/tactics for Toon Link players, and the like. If you want to help us get it right (No, we're not doing it completely wrong so long as the information is factual), please give us your insight, it would be much apporeciated.

Sorry, it was either Toon Link or the Boozer for Ike, and the guy running our matchup guide felt like doing T.Link, not that I'm at the least annoyed by that.

I know that eventually we have to get to the Boozer sooner or later, but I suppose he feels that we should get rid of the "harder" matchups out of the way first.

I agree with jash TL rapes Ike. There is just no way that I can see an Ike getting past all the advantages TL has over him hell TL doesnt even need to try just DSmash gimp him. Sorry but its the truth. Only the best Ikes will be able to beat a good TL. But if both players are equally skilled the TL will come out on top no doubt.

the hardest thing for me to do against Ike is to get inside his jab. If I wait he can f-tilt, if I try to dodge behind him I end up in front of him. Going over him is obviously a no as his hit box reaches above his head. Should I double jump over him and try to hit him before he finishes his attack or hit him with a projectile? This wouldn't be as much of a problem if it wasn't one of his better moves.

I fear Olimar far more then TL when I play as Ike. Don't know the general opinion for Olimar on the Ike boards because I don't pay attention to them much anymore. >_>

Since when has Dsmash been a gimp move for TL? Projectiles are not that bad, once Ike gets through them he out ranges you in every way(not sure about zair but that is only one move) an Ike that can space will not have to worry about your melee attacks so you have to wait for Ike to mess up one of his attacks, he has the advantage close up with his range and great jab combo. What are you going to do about gimping his recovery? I don't gimp often sadly so I don't know what to do for that so can someone explain the options.

I think TL has an advantage but it is no where near as one sided as everyone thinks.

Ike's recovery is so gimpable, especially with T.Link that it's not even funny.

And no, noly a minority think it's one sided, it defenitely is either Neutral or in T.Link's favor, which I doubt it is. It's just neutral IMO.

I love TL's Dsmash but I never see anyone say to use it to gimp, hell I rarely see anyone say to use it.

I know Ikes recovery is gimpable, I don't gimp often so I don't know what I'd do in that situation. I was asking for what they would do since I am working on my gimping.

Me saying most of them was a poor choice of words for me. I think that TL has a very small advantage because he can camp Ike. Maybe neutral is the best, I'll accept that.

Well, think about how you would gimp Ike...Aether hits all around Ike when he is at the apex of it...you have three projectiles...A Dair that can spike...MAYBE a zair that reaches far enough...

It's debatable but we want to save the matchup nubmers for later, but yeah I think we can safely say it's somewhere close to or dead-on neutral.

Best choice is Dair, just for killing purposes.

Zair works pretty well against Ike's aether too.
