I'm curious to know how many Toon Link's originally played Link, then switched to Toon Link after seeing how bad Link was.
When brawl came out, I played Link for about a month and saw how bad he is compared to Toon Link. Then I made the switch. I like both Links its just that I felt like I had to make the decision to get good with one and just play the other non competitively.
So who else switched over to Toon Link?

Me actually, even tho I still play Link since he was my main in melee and 64. If only his recovery wasn't so bad then I would use him in tourney.

Never mained Link.

I don't like Link as much as the younger links.

They're way better imho.

I mained Link in Melee, but started working in Falco before Brawl's release to cover the fact that he couldn't hold up to much more than local competition. The way Link got nerfed in Brawl just totally ruined the way I liked to play him, so I started off maining Ike, then got readjusted to the new Falco, and then picked up Toon Link. I like him better than any previous iteration, personally. He's faster, has more potential, his combos are full of finesse, and his projectiles are great for those with cunning.

I played as Link once, and didn't like the way he felt. He just didn't feel right for some reason. So I tried out Toon Link, and he felt perfect.

I used Link while I was unlocking Toon Link lol
I thought Link was a pretty good character at the time but now i see.

The wasted thing is, I converted to Toon Link solely on the fact that I liked TLs Boomerang over Links phail rang XD

I used young link in melee and TL in brawl. Link is too slow for me.

I used Samus in 64 and Melee. They nerfed her to useless. I tried sticking with her for the first 2 months of brawl, did alright when no one really knew much about the new characters. But after that she didn't stand much of a chance so i ventured off trying to find a new character.

I tried using ZSS who I love to use, but haven't spent enough time with to master. She is probably my third string. I tried DDD, but my friends ***** too much about chain grabbing and swallowcide to the point where they won't play anymore. Finally went random one day. Ended up with toon link and just started destroying my friends mains. Toonlink felt very familiar. A lot like my melee samus as far as weight goes. He also has good distance and physical game like Samus used to have. Only thing Tlink lacked was a projectile that could KO but he makes up for that in a lot of other areas. The more I use him the more I love him.

I was a Link main in melee, and a pretty good one too. Best Melee Link in FL at one time. However, when I played Link in brawl, he missed alot of things that made me like Melee Link, like bomb shining combos, the spin attack semi spike, a better recovery, more useful boomerang, stronger N-air, more range on D-air and Up-air.
And I eventually liked Toon Link more, although I wish there was a way to fuse Toon Link and Link together. Only thing I dont like about Toon Link is his weight and fall speed, but he feels more like Melee Link to me than the Link in brawl. =/

I used link in melee. But as soon as I heard about toon link, I decided he would be my main. I still used link in brawl, but dropped him after a while.

Who needs a kill projectile?

Really.. it seems like TL has some of the best projectiles in the game due to the ability it can rack up serious damage.

Now.. if TL had a projectile that could kill then I would freakin orgasm right now.

I never said I needed it. It is just what he lacked that melee samus had. Samus had super missiles and charge shot. But as I said, TL makes up for the in many areas.

Yah, I guess I was joke posting a bit.

..But yah, I never assumed you meant the racking of damage in the "other areas", so I guess I should next time.

Bleh, I'd still love it if TL had a kill projectile though.

Link was my main in 64, and Melee so I naturally used him for Brawl. However, I wasn't quite as good as I remembered and I was lucky if I could get a single kill on 3stock before losing as him. One of my friends used TL and he spanked my link, I then used TL the next round and spanked him with his own TL. TL is now my main and the rest is history. I'm able to stay at par with my friends who have been playing much longer.

The jumps and boomerang along with a nicely timed DownA does so much more as Link doesn't have any spikes.

Yeah he does. D-tilt. Much safer than Tink's Dair, actually.

I switched over from Zelda lol
Tink just seemed like a better fit for me, and I was right.
I was a Captain Falcon main in 64 and melee

I used to main Link on ssb64 and Melee so I thought he was going to be my main in Brawl too... Then I watched some clip on youtube with TL fighting someone and thought "Screw Link, TL is my favorite character now."

Then I got Brawl, tried Link against my friend right after I got the game and I really didnt like him, he just didnt feel like the link I used to play. So we cleared SSE in one go really fast just so I could play as TL, and after I tried him, I just fell in love with the character, love the little guy :P

I have always liked the kid Links better than Adult Link since YLink in Melee.

The problem with Link is that he's a green clad brick. He can't recover for beans and his power doesn't really compensate that.

Also, I prefer the OoT style Link to the TP one. He doesn't look as grey or as grim. TL is nice and cheery (along with being a fine character to play as).

I like the new Link; he has chain mail. His red color looks like tomato soup, though.
