The new rules list has banned nearly every stage in the game, including valuable TL counterpicks Corneria and the Pirate Ship as well as Falco CP Jungle Japes, among others. Why was this done, first of all, and what effect will it have on TL's rankings? Just how iron are these rules?

What rules are you talking about most tournaments follow SBR recommended rule list link:http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=187735 and to my knowledge they have not made a change. Did you go to some weird tournament or something?

Oh well for the most part I don't use corneria as a CP. Pirate ship I will miss but I usually CP brinstar...

The new rules are just that amazing.

To be honest, some stages shouldn't have been banned (Corneria), but others like Norfair and Pirate Ship are constantly under debate anyway.

The SBR rules are official, these are not, but is made by some SBR members with the mentality of European conservancy in ruleset (very few hazards on CPs, stuff like that).

As a Marth player, I find it refreshing that some of the ridiculous stages like Mario Circuit are gone, as a TL player, I find it sad that Corneria bids farewell.

But it's not official. If your TO uses these rules, try to see if you can get some well-known tourney-goers to side with you to admit some CPs. The other rules on the alternate ruleset are way better than the SBR one imo...

but I know the stage list is debated.

Ne rules are great though. If you feel like they aren't right, then debate. Debate with all your might.

Its up to the host of the tournament to decide which stages are banned anyways.

I hate Rainbow Cruise. I know it's one of TL's best counterpick, but I fought a falco there once and got 3 stocked and I fought a G&W there once and I SD'ed twice...it's just so unnatural of a stage with the dissapearing platforms and I KEEP GETTING CAUGHT UNDER THOSE FALLING BLOCKS....I hate that place.
