View Full Version : um...what happened here? (dair oddity)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtvA8B3FwPk
I somehow got 3 or 4 consecutive hits in with a single dair, without ever bouncing off. It seems that he hit me during the dair(I gained 1%) but he didn't stop the attack. I'm fairly certain dair doesn't have super armor...

thats weird
It might of been Wolf's Up B that made toon link hit him in that certain way.

OMG
Imagine if TL's Dair ALWAYS did that.
It did like 40 damage hahaha

It might be something about what wolf did. I'll go post a link to this thread over on their territory.

Did the third hit spike him? It looks like it might of though it's hard to tell... because if it did that means there were 2 consecutive dairs right after eachother

from the sound and distance, it looked like the first hit should have meteored him. I certainly don't remember inputting two dairs.
The thing that gets me is why none of the hits caused a pogo, not even the ending one where I hit wolf after he bounced off the ground.
edit: Actually, I'm pretty sure the first hit did meteor. The hitlag from the next 2(?) made him fall slower for the first bit of the animation.

Omgwtfbbqhax!!! Lmao that looked awesome. But I have no idea what happened there. It couldnt have been bad DI because meteors can't be DI'd up. Hmmm...........I have no idea lol.

That looked like Wolf's up-B in the works, there...neat find.

what i'm really wondering is why there was no pogo off of any of the hits(except maybe the first, which was messed up by the upB going though)...it's just strange.

Wolf's steadily trying to move upward all the time...your pogo could've just kept him in place.

No there was no pogo because TL didnt bounce after the hit. Thats whats strange.

Yeah definetely upB has something to do. Perhaps he meteor cancelled? (Its a possibility) But i dont think his upB would react fast enough to hit u so then ur dair would hit him. @_@ This is all so confusing.

Wolf had upwards momentum, so he moved back into the hitbox. TL DID pogo, but the quick succession of hits kept him in place (kinda like a multihit attack will.)

How many times did he pogo? Once? maybe twice? Certainly didn't pogo at the end for some reason.
What's also odd is that it functioned as a multihit attack(Fox fair for example), rather than a single prolonged hitbox (Falco bair, for example) like it usually does. Like with Zamus's dair, it will carry the other guy to the ground with you, but it does not score mutliple mid-air hits while doing so, which is what happened here.
It's completely contradictory to my knowledge of hos the game works. And that scares me. I take pride in my understanding of the game.

I know most of what happened. After watching the video, like, six or seven times I finally figured it our. First of all, there were three hits not four. Secondly, The momentum from your dair and Wolf's up-B must've been equal so they canceled each other out as you can see if you look closely. The second hit, therefore, hit immediately because you were both held in place by the lack of momentum. Then he was spiked because his momentum was gone and yours wasn't, so the immediate hit was probably a glitch. I don't know why Wolf was then hit normally without you pogoing but the hit was probably from your unfinished dair because, as I said, the second hit was probably a glitch. IMO, this is just the ultimate example of priority.
P.S. The one damage you recieved is from the initial lag from the dair so Wolf had time to hit you.

Hoh shiz that looks Sweet! Yeah wish Dair always did that.
Thats weird as...But good for TL (Y)
EDIT: Does his only work against Wolf? & when he's doing his UpB?
Hmmm
It did 42% damage right? so was it 13%+13%+8% and then the last 8% as TL lands...2 dairs? Since when did the secong hit spike :urg: very confusion

This might sound stupid but, has anyone tried to do this again?
What if we could somehow harness this sweet fluke?
Or am i just kidding myself.
Either way someone should at least try.

I would, but I can't hold two controllers to do the upB and dair.
Also, it looks like wolf did a very slightly angled upB, not in one of the usual 8 directions.

Then get a friend to do the upB or dair.
The point is, we might have something huge on Wolf. Unlikely, but there's no harm in trying.

I know what happened. I know why you didn't pogo after the first hit.
I just realised I've known this for a while, but it only occurred to me after I posted 'the answer' in another thread (analising projectile properties).
The reason why you didn't pogo after the first hit is because you fast falled the dair. This can be done by doing a dair then after the first pogo, smash DI down. This will mean that any other hits you do to anyone you won't pogo.
I hope this sheds some new light on this strange 'glitch'. (And hopefully we can do it again.)
