So ive been playing toon link for a while and although I'm good on the stage, off edge is a differnt story, most characters have a decent spike they can use off edge, but as we all know toon links spike isnt something you want to try unless you know what you are doing....
So my question is this, what can I do to get gimp ko's off edge.
Anything will be helpfull as the only reason i ever go off the stage at the moment is to grab the ledge.

I just grab the edge and Uair/bair/throw bombs at recovering opponents...
this doesn't always work well...i need to learn better myself.
Whenever im not on the edge i just camp barely out of wakeup range. if they jump I bair. if they roll i nair and if they use a wakeup attack i turn around and grab.

Did this help at all (Im not a TL main soo......)

If the Falco likes to recover w/ phantasm low on the stage, you can apparently grab them and fthrow them back out. Better than nothing.
I suppose you can also time a fair/nair to knock them back out and possibly kill.
If you keep pressuring them at the ledge, they'll want to just phantasm on there, which is where edgehogging comes in.
There's not much else you can do to my knowledge.

TL's edgeguard is rather poor. If u really want to gimp. Fair, nair and proyectiles are the way to go. And of course tether hogging.

thanks guys, so what IS the best arieal to use to prevent recovery? Im not sure which one has the most knockback, or if the angle that they knock back matters, wouldnt the best knock back be diagonal-down?

Nair sends at a more downward angle but has less knockback. Fair sends them upward but has more knockback.

Thanks, you have helped a lot, i think it will depend the situation, but fair and nair seem to be the choices. I tend not to jump off on fear of spikes, i seem to always get hit by them, i need to be more brave hahaha.

dair is okay if the opponent is right below you :P
uair is amazing though, its like TL got the Knee of Justice in his sword.
EDIT: throwing bombs at them(pretty much any angle) works okay too.

Uair is 1thousand years of death one of the reasons I main Toon Link...lol
Cant you bow cancel after nair?
EDIT:
Sorry ppl forgot what thread this was >.<
Didn't mean to ask a question here :ohwell:
If you want to use Dair then only use it if you have one extra stock life then your opponent and make sure you know it's going to hit.
I just to a whole lot of random stuff off the edge but forward air and Nair are good as everyone suggested. Pressuring with boomerang and bombs and arrows might come in handy.

Uair=stage spike
Don't you have to wall jump to use fair?

You don't have to wall jump to use fair if you are just running off the stage. However, if you are grabbing the ledge, then you would have to walljump, since you are currently backed to them. But if your back is already to them, you could use nair or boomerang/reverse arrow to turn around.
On topic, I think that the best way for Toon Link to edgeguard would either be to spam SHDA on stage, near the edge, tether hogging if you know that they are going for the edge, or running off and intercepting them with boomerang and fair. I generally use the last option, unless they have one of those "instant" recoveries, like Falco's side-b. In that case, I judge their height to see if they are going for the ledge, and if they are, then I tether hog. I only use the first option, spamming arrows, when I know that I am too late to run off and intercept.

Arrows do nothing as an edge guard unless its against Pit or something.
Boomerang/bomb -> Fair is reliable usually.

Yeah if you're on the edge
Oh **** forgot reverse arrow. (This was not a 'swearword' starting with S. It starts with D. I don't really consider it a swear word hence the quote marks ')
But nair doesn't turn TL around, does it?

I don't believe N-Air does, but I never really paid enough attention to it. I know it turns around to attack, but I don't think it flips you around, I think only Toon Link's specials turn him around.

You can turn around with bomb-throw, 'rang, and if you do it correctly, arrow.

Between boomerang and arrow, which is better? Which takes longer?
Boomerang has more knockback so might be better but I'm not sure if it takes an agonizingly long time.

I would assume the boomerang, as far as i can tell has a longer starting animation so you will fall more if you use that where as the arrow is way way less than that. You arent trying to hit them with the attacks so what ever is quickest. Chances are at that point id have a bomb in my hand anyway so id most likly use that to turn myself around.
