OUGA: Ohio University's Smash Club

Ohio University is home to OUGA, the Original Upholders of the Gaming Arts. We're a student run club that meets every Friday night at 8 in Morton room 127. We play Brawl nonstop until the wee hours of the morning, and we throw Brawl tournaments about once a quarter. Anyone is welcome to come, bringing setups is great, bringing controllers is a must!

We're also up to playing just about anything. If you bring it, we will play. Or we might just play Brawl instead. We've been known to dabble with Mario Kart, Kirby Air Ride, Tekken 5, Dokapon Kingdom, and there's always people in the back playing WoW or TF2.

We're a pretty social group and we frequent Ohio tournaments often. Our ougers even provide transportation to off campus events! How neat. Improvement is difficult when you only play each other, and you have some pretty good members. I'd like to play The Kiest and KBRO again, and I hope you guys have improved as much as we have. :chuckle:

Yeah you do! Chances are if you're on smashboards you would absolutely love coming to OUGA. Just show up next Friday and see what it's like. We have a few questions about your set-ups.

How many set-ups do you have on a regular basis?
Is the above a Picture of the room your normally occupy?
How many set-ups do you have room for?
Is the projector screen you're using shown here lagless?

1. On average, 2. Although we like to stick together in one room, so we only have one set up most of the time. Although there have been instances of rebels breaking off from the rest. It depends on how many people show up.

2. Yes and no. That's room 115, which is the exact same as 127 only right next door. Usually where the rebels hide out.

3. If people bring tvs (which I would suggest against) we have room for about as many as you can bring, because there are rooms across the hall that are usually unoccupied (although I can make no guarantees). Without tvs there are the 2 main rooms and maybe 1 or 2 across the hall all with projectors.

4. 100% lag free. I think. I've been playing on them forever and I'm one of those people who refuses to play with lag. I get all whiny and start jonning. Trust me on this one.

Oh yeah, and I do recall having 8 v 8 crew battles between ougers, so that would make 16 of us. But that was a rare occasion, and some of the people weren't in the club (aka visitors, or anti-ougers)

I'm pretty sure each crew has at least 5 solid players a piece. So crews of 5 and no preset order of use of players so you can try to counterpick players.


Anyhoo, pretty much any weekend works for me cause I have a steady 9-5 job. My crew on the other hand would probably need a little more notice than that. If worse comes to worse I may have to steal Glov from West Salem or something.

Okay, we're thinking of having festivities on Valentines Day, Feb. 14th. It's a Saturday! I hope none of you have girl friends! If that's a bad weekend, the Saturday after is probably good, too. That's the 21st if you were wondering. I'm thinking of opening registration at like, 10, so we can get Doubles, Singles, and Crew Tourney's. It'll be an entirely Brawl event, but we could set up a TV for melee friendlies. Although the rest of OUGA is unaware of all of this.... I'll post this info on the OUGA boards and see how well it goes over. Shouldn't be any problems though.
