I was just in training mode and messing around and I've found a legitimate combo involving a JC bomb throw. Basically you simply JC throw towards your opponent, and immediately shorthop zair them. If you do this quickly enough it registers as 2 consecutive hits. If they happen to shield or dodge the bomb you can weave backwards with your zair to avoid being shieldgrabbed.

I'm not sure if this has been discovered yet, I did a fair amount of browsing through all the bomb guides and projectile tactics threads and there didn't seem to be anything that resembled this.

Or if you hit with your bomb, you can zair like you said then grab them if they're at lower percents i guess.

I just approach with a perfect shield if I ever throw JC forward and follow it.

I hate to ask, but what does JC mean?

JC is short for jump cancel and is a tech you can use to throw a bomb while gliding a short distance. In order to perform it, you start running and hit jump immediately followed by A. It's almost necessary to push both buttons at the same time in order to pull it off. You can JC throw a bomb forward while running, causing you to slide in the direction you threw it, or alternatively you can pivot throw and hit somebody while your running away from them.

That makes sense. So from the JC bomb, you SH zair them and that is 2 hits. Thanks. Since zair has low knockback, do you think you could get another move out after it?

Yup all the followups from zair

Yeah i was playing around follow ups after the zair and i think it's moderately character dependent. Some characters will be pushed further than others, inevitably causing you to lose potential options such as your aaa jab combo. What i'm excited about however is being able to set up a fsmash after the zair, tlink's killing options are somewhat limited compared to the other aspects of his gameplay.

But like you said, zair's follow-ups are moderately character dependent. If f-smash has potential as a follow-up, I'd like to know which characters it works on. And more specifically, who it works well on and who it might not work so well on.

When I make my guide to Toon Link I'll put it in there.
I'll probally start on it tomorrow

Oh so you are still going to do that.

Ontopic: Is SH nair an acceptable/viable follow up to JC bomb?

The only thing that determines what moves you can do out of the jc throw is how you space it. If you get too close, you'll be hit be the explosion. If you're too far away your zair won't hit. I'm pretty sure a wide range of his aerials can be used after if you space correctly.

edit: I just tested this out and a hyphen smash does register as 2 consecutive hits. This can lead into utilt > bair combos at low percentages
