Double post lol? Anyway, try using airs in training against a few 3s (or 4s, or 5s, or friends) You will find Neutral Air and Forward Air your most useful ones, but try to also develop Down Air and Back Air. Start first with F-Air because it is the easiest to land, then try N-Air and other stuff. Don't spam anything though, try to mix it up. I do some of these basic combos:

Jab-Jab-Jab>F-Air

Double Jump>D-Air

Over Jump>B-Air

Jump/Double Jump>N-Air

Try not using Up Air much. It is not successful most of the time because it can easily be air dodged.

You see that little button that says "Edit" under your posts? Um, yeah, click that next time instead of triple posting... <_<

As for ClausDaddy... It'd be easier if we could see a video of you playing... If you're getting punished for using Ike's slower moves, then try some of his faster ones (like Jab, autocancelled bairs and nairs, utilt)... I dunno... D: It's hard to give advice with everything you've posted here...

This.

It's hard to give you specific tips unless you give us something to critique or if you give us a specific scenario/strategy that you're having trouble with. One thing it seems you're having trouble with, however, is the notion of applying something you have read; if you don't have an air game when Empy and Kirk's guide gives them all a 7/10 or higher, then you should try implementing them rather than going without them.

Well probably to get you started, maybe you should first become aware of and familiarize yourself with Ike's less laggier attacks first as not all of Ike's attacks have a lots of lag to them.

Ground Options

AAA combo: This is one of Ike's quickest attacks. Don't be afraid to use it often especially if the opponent is really close to you. In fact, if you press AA duck and then do the AAA combo again quickly, you'll rack up some nice damage at the beginning of the fight when your opponent is at a low %.

Utilt: This is Ike's fastest tilt and should be used often too as it has quite a deceptive range. This move can stop aerial approaches as well if you can time it properly. This move also attacks behind Ike which is pretty awesome if the opponent is close enough behind you. Be warned however, the damage delt here is weaker than at the front of Ike's attack. This move can also KO at fairly high %'s if kept fresh.

DSmash: I think this is Ike's fastest smash attack. However, for a KO move it's not that great. I recommend using the USmash for this as it has much better range and power than the DSmash. You could however, use the DSmash on people who spam shield rolls a lot and punish them for it.

Dash Attack: This attack is fast and also has a lot of range to it. When using this move however, don't make it obvious for your opponent by just dashing up to them. They'll recognise that a dash attack is coming along and they'll just sheild and punish you for it. To use the move successfully, just as the dash animation starts by tapping the control stick to one side, quickly press the A button and you'll attack them with this because they didn't see you dash towards them to use the attack. If you don't normally execute dash attacks this way, I suggest you start doing so. It'll pay off later. ;)

Air Options

Nair: This is one of Ike's best aerials. Not only does it attack all around his body, if you land when doing this move, it auto-cancels meaning that that you can IMMEDIATELY follow up with another move as soon as you land. Therefore, you can safely attack with this move in conjunction with a short hop as you recieve NO cooldown lag when landing, even if you didn't completely finish the move. Awesome no? Technically, if you land this move on someone, you can immediately follow up with an AAA combo when you land to further rack up damage!

Bair: This is Ike's fastest aerial. It technically has NO start-up lag and the move is also a fairly reliable kill move at high %'s. Best used in conjunction with a short-hop when an enemy is close behind you.

B Moves

>B: Quick Draw is an OK move. Yes, it is a quick attack as Ike dashes toward his at a reasonable speed. However, this move is fairly predictable so don't use it as an approach move too often. Otherwise, if you attack the opponent's shield, they can punish you easily with a stronger move as you recover from the cool down lag from using the move. I technically like to use this move as a spacing tool or if I'm knocked high up off the stage, I sometimes use this to return on stage. It's better to use aether most of the time, but don't let your opponent predict your actions!

That's it for Ike's less laggier moves. Another tip don't forget is that you should always space yourself a good distance from your opponent when using Ike. In order to use Ike well, you must space yourself properly against the opponent. If spaced well enough, you can use moves like Ftilt and Fair as well as the ones listed above at their full attack range and hit the enemy with no fear of retaliation! There are a few exceptions of course. So even if they shield, the attack will just knock them away thanks to Ike's power.

I'll be truthful here, Ike is definately not an easy character to master/use well as Ike doesn't have a lot of favourable match-ups. It takes a lot of time, patience and work to be able to use Ike very well. It took me a while to get around some of his laggy attacks and unfavourable match-ups, but now I can use him just as effectively as my other mains and I found it quite rewarding as the element of surprise is always there to help me win. :) Just take it easy, keep at it and you'll be rewarded with a killing machine in your arsenal! :chuckle: If you want, you could PM me and I'll show you the ropes to using Ike effectively. ;)
