me and my brother scamp do. we'll go to any tournament.. but be ready, i've never met anyone around here that's close to my skill level..

a tourney round here would be cool, maybe jeremy, matt, vien and everybody from TG3 could come up to here and see our smash environments.

Funny, I think there are a lot of people that were at TG3 that would beg to differ =P

I think my brother was referring to the San Francisco area. Still, the top TG players besides us come from Vallejo, San Jose, or Watsonville. San Jose counts as the Bay Area, I'm pretty sure, but I don't know about the other two. (Mostly because I don't really know exactly where they are. But they're all definitely not near SF.)

Even if you don't hold a tourney, I'm always interested in meeting new smashers. Heck, I could even hold an exhibition. "Meet and play the guy who finished 5th and 7th at TG tournaments!" 1 dollar a game. All profits go towards me buying Super Mario Sunshine, or for me to train some more in Street Fighter.

Also, I know TheJigglyPuffer should be in Berkeley because he goes to school here.

Wait wait! I've got an even better idea for an exhibition match! HOME RUN DERBY! I get a homerun bat, you play fox, and we see how many times I can hit a homer! I mean, ****, with you it's like playing slow pitch softball... =P

Ok, ok, I'm sorry. I think you set yourself up for that one though =)

Oh, and as for mario sunshine... I really want to get it, but then every time I'm thinking about buying it, that STUPID COMMERCIAL comes on and I just can't bring myself to buy it... I mean, that has to be the stupidest commercial ever made, right?

hey tacogimp, who got 4th place in the 1v1, and 3rd in team... i did.. thats right. who's gonna complain?? whoo!! ...oh yeah and my brother is really close to me in my skill level i forgot to mention that..

anyway im up to play smash anytime, anywhere, as long as my brother can drive me!

how cocky can you get?? don't let placing high get to your head... theres lots of other ways to get better competition than bragging about placements in tournaments... i don't ever see matt and other tg'ers bragging about how they placed

AzN Shadow
08-29-2002, 08:27 PM
cause they're not 15 yr olds boys who can't go outside and do anything because their leg is seriously f'd up.. like mine is.. so what else do i have that i can do?

and it ain't cocky if you back it up..

Recipherus

Watsonville is an hour south of San Jose. I go back to school in about 2 weeks so it would be cool if we could get in one more smash session. btw, i'm sorry but i picked up fox.... oh the shame...:(

AzN Shadow

Hmm, there are two ways to take this.

#1: Flattery that the no.1 ranked Norcal player as of right now is using your character.

#2: Insulted because said player told me to stay away from Sheik, and now he's poaching on new game.

Actually, I'd seriously recommend you stay away from Fox because it'll most likely hurt your Shiek game. At least, that's what happened to me.
In fact, Fox's gameplay is so vastly different than most characters that it'll hurt your gameplay with almost every character if you practice him hardcore. This is the price of Fox.
I'm just kidding. It shouldn't really hurt your game that much if you can adjust well. (Seriously, some people can't.) But honestly, why not use Falco? I read on the TG thread that you were going to pick him up after TG, what happened to that? And why'd you guys change your name from "Link grew a moustache"?

If you want, next time I see you I can give you pointers on using Fox. That is, if you're ready.....

Oh yeah, out of curiosity I was wondering how often you killed yourself when you first started using Fox.

We changed our team name because Jeremy didn't like it and he still does kill himself.

hey scamp, i read that you're in berkeley. my friend and i are at ucb, and we're always looking for new people to play. we were pretty decent at original ssb, but yeah.. still making the transition into melee. well anyway, if you and your brother are interested in an afternoon of smash or something, post a response. it should be fun.

I'm down with any smashin that you wanna do, cept it cant be at our house cause.. well it stanks and you can't see the floor, truthfully. but we can go anywhere round these parts, also maybe thejigglypuffer wants to get in on this?

Kagai
09-03-2002, 03:16 AM
yeah mabey before i started trying to get better with him and even so i did get 10th......i think. can't be any lower cuz there were only like 15 people there and i made it almost as far as scamp and he got 8th. but no i have comppletely changesd my fighting style with falco and i have started using young link more. so i don't care if my falco sucks comapred to yours at leasti know how not to get caped when i am trying to get back by using the illusion.

Ok, so I haven't played any smash since Scamp beat me @ tg3... and I think I'm suffering from withdrawl!!!! If someone sets up something in the bay area, I'm so down. Any time, any place =)

Mainly, though, I want to play Scamp again. I keep thinking about that match at TG3... it was very close... If I had just done a couple things differently i could have won... and I the more i think about it the more it pisses me off. But then I think, wait a minute, Scamp is much better than me. 9 times out of 10 he would crush me in a best of 3. So basically, I want to prove to myself that Scamp really is that much better than me and that I was lucky to even make it that close =). Then I won't feel bad about losing =p.

Ok, anyway, I got off topic. If someone is gonna have a day-o-smash in the bay area count me in.

Bryan

dude, the illusion thing wasn't my fault.

bryan. you home run batted him twice. and he still almost beat you. is that proof enough?

and yes for the last time i want to smash.

Actually that's not true. When I hit him with the first homerun bat, he was at a very high percentage, over 100%. The second one was very quickly after that, so effectively I gained a one-life advantage. When I won that match, I was at practically 0% damage, basically one life up. So I beleive we played pretty close to even the first match. It's kind of hard to tell though, with all the bat antics. The second match he counter picked the stage and beat me pretty badly, and the last match I counter picked the stage and he was down to his last life when he beat me. So I think we played pretty close, and I know some stupid stuff i did in the last match (fireball when i didn't have time to get it off when he was dashing in, not blocking when he illusioned into the bombs right next to me, etc.). So whatever our absolute skill levels, those matches were pretty close.

I thought there might be some CAL students who play smash. I was hoping to even get a school program (not seriously, but it would be cool) going at CAL, and that way I could get extra curricular activity points for a school I don't even attend!
And, I could even hope for some tourneys to run so that us Cali people can stay in shape so we can be sure to fend off all these out-of-state challengers.

It doesn't have to be only smash too. I'm d@mn good at Bomberman and I wanna get Beach Spikers and Monkey Ball 2.

Anyway, if anyone in Berkeley wants to play sometime just give me, my bro, or TheJigglyPuffer a PM and we'll try to set something up. Don't know what my schedule will be like since I'm trying to find a job, but right now since I don't have a job it's pretty much open season.

Bryan - Well, after the second HRB I remember basically giving up. I also remember getting the bat after the second time and pulling out random swings, just trying to get some kind of revenge. Pretty much a bad mental match all the way around for me. At least I didn't try to use Sheik in that match.
As is, the matches were pretty close. I was impressed. As is, I still think you could be great, even if you don't think so. But, if you want to lose badly to me, then LET'S SMASH IT UP!

Kagai - No one is going to randomly invite people they don't know. Where do you live, who exactly are you, and everyone is welcome to join as long as they play smash and respect the rules of whoever is hosting.

hey master blaster steele, let's get some SSBM matches goin. i play SSB original too, but i'm really rusty at it. i private messaged you my AIM screenname.

oh crap smash at cal?? lets play! do they have extra tvs at the bearcade? cuz maybe we could use a tv there... i'm pretty sure my brothers and i are down to play. berkely isn't that far any way. and i'm pretty sure we'll give you guys some sort of challenge...

but we have been playing at diablo valley college lately... at the margarett lesher building, some folks bring video game systems and we play games during our breaks... so far the games have been smash, tekken tag, cvs2, soul caliber, and tetris... oh yeah and halo too! so if anybody goes to dvc and is on these threads, lets smash it up!!!!

i've invited random people i never met... i mean for reals... why would wanted criminals post on a smash brothers board???

master blaster steele
09-04-2002, 01:49 PM
hey, i'm down for any smash at cal. i wouldn't mind having people over to smash, but my roommate and i are living in a one bedroom apartment, so we could host only so many people. if there's another place to play, or you guys wanna visit in small groups, then let's do it.

Recipherus
09-04-2002, 04:12 PM
let's do this, set up a date already

Scamp
09-04-2002, 04:36 PM
god **** it Lakota how am i supposed to know it's you with your fake tag name and your horrendous sentence structure not that everyone on the internet pretty much has horrible grammar anyway and whats this about kicking both of our ***** we placed third at TG3 and my little brother absolutely creamed you twice in a row with ness in the one on one and we all know hes not that good with ness.

Sucka.

Anyway, Reciph, we're pretty much at the mercy of the schedules of people who have the resources to hold a fest. I'm not sure if that was Rob or his older brother talking, but playing Smash at the Bearcade would be so cool! Doubt it'd happen, though. Maybe we could take over the pool tables. (Although, with the new layout, there IS a lot of room in the center of the arcade now....) Or, we could get a huge crowd of people meeting at DVC! Now THAT would be classic.

Somebody's gotta know something about somewhere on CAL we can play. Maybe someone could start a club, or we could coordinate SSBM tourneys with the weekly Bearcade tourneys. Who's got TVs to bring? I know we all have cubes. So many possibilities....and I don't have the means to do anything. Plus, I'm still job-hunting. Job hunting sucks. I wish I could get a job being a professional smasher.

Man just great, right when I leave Cal, peeps are now making arrangements to smash there, guess I'm a little too late, or better yet, a little too lazy to start something myself :-)

Anyways, the best way would probably to get a hold of CALfoolio since he goes there, or at least the dorms over there. I remember having Goldeneye shootouts back in the day, so I'm sure students smash at the dorms. As far as on campus, Bear Arcade would be nice, or you can use one of the classrooms, although I never knew how to reserve one.

so is anyone able to host a smash session? post up if you're willing too.

rob1out
09-05-2002, 12:40 AM
my older bro doesn't post at all dave.... i would host another one at my house... but the only days i could host it is on the weekend... and all of those days are busy... unless you guys are down to come to dvc on a friday afternoon probably next week and play smash. we could use the big screen there. we allready use it anyway.

but if the CAL people can get some dorming folks can set something up like james said... then lets go with that! i'll try and set something up at the bearcade.
