This game is awesome. It is Very technical -- oh my gawd, I love it. Does anyone have a tourny stick for ps3? I'm willing to buy one. I don't know much about the community, but if I get the stick expect me to attend some tournies.

Anyone else like it? Anyone else wanna jump into the community with me?

Try STor Third Strike. Those games were technical lol.

Anyway, MadCatz said that they would probably do another shipping for TE Fight sticks in the next couple of months. Keep your ears open and ask your local Gamestop or whatever if they have a set date for shipment. If they do, PRE ORDER IT ON THE SPOT.

Make sure you get the Tournament Edition one.

Quitting smash for SF4 is not worth it! I would quit Melee for Guilty Gear, not SF4.

I don't think I'll ever quit smash -- but I can effectively quit it by going to SF4 tournies over Smash tournies.

If there's something guilty gear related happening on the same day as something smash I go to the guilty gear.

I think street fighter is one of the least technical of the 2D fighting genre.

Truth . . .

Street Fighter 4 is way more technical than smash. How technical is smash compared to the most technical 2d fighter?

i think they meant Guilty Gear is way more technical than SF

Melee is the most technical game there is! However, the game requires such precise muscle reflexes to be able to demonstrated (i.e. Perfect Control). The only person that comes close to that is SilentWolf! Since humans aren't robots, we can't do that 100% of the time. Top three most technical games (not in any order): Melee, Guilty Gear, MvC2!

Edit - I would place SF4 with DBZ Infinite World in terms of tech skill!

Kouryuu

Melee takes much more execution skills than SF4. SF4 is probably the least technical (execution wise) out of the other well known SF games from my understanding (though the game still requires practice nonetheless).

As for the most technical 2D game? I haven't played all but I think it's safe to assume it's MvC2.

BTW, I don't know why anyone would quit Smash for GG if they're looking for competition LOL. If anything, SF4 is the game to play atm. However, you don't need to quit Melee in order to go to SF4 tournaments. Some days just go to SF tourneys and other days go to Melee. I don't know why quitting is necessary.

LunInSpectra

Melee is most technical?

How do you guys come to that conclusion?

EDIT:

Street Fighter 4 is ridiculously technical.

Also, I wouldn't quit -- I would just rather go to an SF4 tourny.

I still don't understand why you think SF4 requires more tech skill than Melee. Well, I guess it makes sense since they both require different sets of skills to be good at and I'm guessing you're better at executing in Melee than SF.

But seriously, try playing other 2D games. Then you'll know what tech skill is.

this is dumb Rey... U never played any of the street fighter games at a tourney lvl lol.

SF4 is NO WHERE NEAR technical to Melee. All there is is Force attk cancel with moves and learning to space, timing, and combo.

U want something prior to tech skill? GO PLAY SOME MAHVEL BAHBEE!!!

Tech Skill crazy, Fast pace game, BROKEN CHARACTERS LIKE MELEE.

Also pick up third strike lol cause Third strike more technical then SF4 rofl.

Well, I don't plan on playing other 2D games, but I can say that SF4 takes more tech skill.

I'm probably biased, but I don't think I'm biased enough to be wrong.

Third strike more technical then SF4 rofl.

My respect for you just went through the roof! Heck, if that's the case, then SF4 tech skill doesn't compare to DBZ Infinite World.

Lunin, if you are just getting into SF, and learning all the quarter circle and half circle nonsense, it might seem like it's more technical, but it isn't.

Edit - Oh god yes! Watch some Marvel vids!

When I get good at Street Fighter I'll look back on this and give more thought to it.

I'll admit, I'm new to the game (almost completely) and I'm a little excited. Maybe it's cus my tech skill in melee is so natural I think SF4 is hard. lol.

But I won't accept that SF4 < Melee until I sorta...feel that I'm wrong.

Man, Rey. I can only imagine how much trouble you're gonna have learning the stick lol.

You are rediculously biased.
Melee is probably the hardest fighting game to get good at imo, unless your trained from the womb to play as gay as possible
Or your naturally gifted like mango.

SF4 is rediculously technical, but its a game where some things never change. A combo here will always be a combo here. Most fighters are like that.

Melee is to an extent but obviously there are few set combos (well more than a few, but you get my drift). Even then you have to know how much health an opponent has to have before you can implement it, predict/read his DI, etc etc. The fact that recovery, levels, and other hazards play a large role in the game means there are more areas of the game you should be good at (just because there are more areas to be good at doesnt necessarily mean that the skill involved to play melee is in whole greater than SF4, but it adds to my arguement)

That being said a good friend of mine is beast at 3s and enjoys melee (got into competitive melee first), and says melee is much harder than third strike, which seems to be much harder than SF4 atm (obviously the metagame hasnt progressed as far as it can yet, but these are just my initial observations of SF4 metagame). Of course he may be more naturally talented at 3s than melee, but it just adds to my reasoning.

Man, Rey. I can only imagine how much trouble you're gonna have learning the stick lol.

Its hard at first but DEFINATELY worth it in the long run. You can do so much more its rediculous
nice 3s vid btw

Now ur making it seem like Third Strike doesn't have tech skill LMAO! Ummm.. WRONG lol. 3rd strike is pretty **** technical. And no, SF4 takes more tech skill than any DBZ game. I really do hope u were joking lol.

Ohkay.

So you guys are saying that I'll get better in Street Fighter 4 faster than I've gotten better in Melee?

EDIT:

Oh yeah? Well maybe YOU guys are biased because your tech skill is bad in melee. haw haw haw.

Kouryuu
03-06-2009, 02:30 AM
Um, like I said. They require two different types of execution skills. I got the hang of SF much faster than Smash. It's up to the individual IMO.

yes most definitely. I got the hang of the stick pretty quick. I'm actually surprised. Though I still have to polish up on my execution.

don't show him GGX lol
show him at least GGXX:#R or GGXX:AC maybe even AC+

rey, smash has a lot more things to master than SF
it is mostly spacing and predicting then combos

smash has DI and all those other factors

Nasty_Nate

Oh yeah? Well maybe YOU guys are biased because your tech skill is bad in melee. haw haw haw.

true, but to taking into account everything I know about SF4, SF3, other fighters, and melee, I feel I can safely say melee is a more technical game, and the most technical game I know of besides starcraft.

Starcraft makes sense to be the most technical game, because ideally youd want to be controlling each and every unit you have perfectly, and the only way to do that with a large army is by having rediculous APM (assuming your doing mostly actions that actually benifit you, not clicking fo fun). Since theoretically it is possible to always achieve higher APM, starcraft wins my vote for most technical game evar

And you just said your new to SF4!! (thats implied for everyone, so saying it must mean your really new)
