I have decided to compile a few tips for everyone as battling commences tomorrow.
Choose your element wisely!
Remember that there are elemental weaknesses and strengths... I'm not going to list them, as I want you guys to figure them out, but some of them are obvious, such as Fire is strong against Grass and Water is weak against Electric. With this in mind, if you view the RPG Decision (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=26102) topic and see everyone picking Grass, you may consider going Fire. Also, pick your element according to how you want to play. If you plan on using lots of elemental attacks that use up MP, pick an element like psychic that has a decent base MP.
Remember to make your permanent decision by level 5
This means that it must be posted IN THIS TOPIC (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=26102) while you are still level 4. Failure to do so will result in bannation and deletion.
Read the RPG Manual

Do not cheat
A very helpful tip indeed. Cheating makes thingsmiserable for everyone, and you will eventually be caught.
Do not spam for gil
When the "one gil per post" thing starts, do not spam to get more gil! If we suspect you spamming at all you will have all your gil reset to zero. Its not worth it!
Research all the pokemon before level 5
Many people want to automatically choose their final pokemon right away. I suggest you research every pokemon and there stats (until level 5 of course). Moves become available around levels 2 and 3, so you can at least research those moves.
UPDATE STATS!!!!
Many people do not realize that after every battle you can update your stats (User CP ---> Edit Profile) and your pokemon's stats will increase, EVEN if you didn't gain a level!
