View Full Version : Captain Falcon Vs. Peach

Alright I've been playing Falcon for a while now and I can completely obliterate all of my friends characters.... except Peach.
First of all down smash is death but I can get around that pretty well.
The real problem is that I can't get any aerial to connect. Her N air is extremely fast and has way too much priority. If I down throw into a knee, I eat N air. If I chase after Peach with another grab, I eat N air. About the only aerial I can connect with is an up air after an up throw. Raptor Boost sets up nicely for an up air but sometimes I still eat N air. I just can't get in.
Then there's the matter of edeguarding her. Let's see, her Parasol goes though my spike. She can safely come in from the top where I can't reach her. If I go for a knee I eat N air. What's a good way to edguard Peach? She never dies.
Falcon is her ***** when he's recovering, so there's not much to do there.
So what do you guys think? Is Falcon Vs. Peach hopeless? Or do I have a chance?
Any and all help would be extremely appreciated.

I normally find peach easy to beat, but then again, everyone plays differently. A character can be a bane to any other character depending on how it's played in my humble opinion.

a good Peach can take out a good Cap. since he has a bad comeback and he's heavy(meaning chain grab). plus 3 good down+As and its game over for him.the only moves that can effect her is his smash f+A, f+B on the gound, and a knee( when its combo in to. a lot of peachs moves can counter the knee.)
overall Peach>Cap really bad. u just have to play smart.

Peach can easily chain grab Falcon from around 30% to well over 100%. Then she can lead to the forward throw and edgeguard.
This is assuming that Falcon doesn't have any platforms to tech off of, though. That's why you counterpick FD :P

As much as I love my Falcon, I can't seem to beat Peach..... so who counters Peach?
I know Marth has a slight advantage but her Turnips and down smash can even the fight up.
Any ideas?
I only play fast fallers so if I ever saw a Peach in a tourney I'd die,

I find peach to be the most annoying character in the game. I've played Ganondorf against my friend who uses peach and encountered MAJOR problems. What you gotta do is fake her out, mind games, and use power amnd try to knock her off screen upwards. Try uthrow into usmash, throw in the falcon dive occasionally (Fake her out into using nair if you can and then strike with this. Get used to catching turnips and throwing them back at her. ****, even mix in a falcon kick now and then! Ever try raptor boost into knee? Maybe the stun effect of the flames could help a bit. Once off the edge you're screwed, so stay the **** on.
Yes, it's a tough battle against peach with captain and the big g, u gotta go insane, as far as my little bit of knowledge/experience goes.
Now if you're willing to pick up another fastfaller, I'd say Fox is a good counter to peach. 90% of the kills you'll get on peach will be upwards, not sideways, and fox's uair, utilt, and usmash could kill her really easily. I'd say comboing into uair or something is your most solid bet. Also, Peach's recovery is great horizontally, but only average vertically. So if you can get in a shine spike, she's screwed.
My friend's peach was a true bane until I picked up fox... then she became relatively easy. THEN my friend picked up her dsmash, and she once again became a bane:chuckle:.
Ahh, hope this helps.

This is not something I would normally suggest for a Falcon player, but have you tried playing defensively? Shield grabs might work well, I'm not positive. On the ground, I'd suggest something like an upward aimed ftilt. I think that would hit her in the face and get around the downsmash. Then you could follow it up with a dash attack, and then maybe even a short hop knee. But the others are right, this is a tough matchup.

Well, there is one small trick you could use to get a Peach by surprise. A down throw and a running jump knee is a consecutive hit under regular circumstances. That would keep the Peach off guard until they begin to directional influence from the down throw properly.
You should check out Darkrain vs CahPheonix, where CF wins, atleast in one match, I've only seen one.
Also, XJapan, Peach can chain throw CF because he's a fastfaller not because he's heavy, I'm sure you knew that but we don't want any newbs to get confused.

I have all three Darkrain vs. CahPhoenix matches. CahPhoenix MAULS Darkrain the first match, but loses the next two.
I have no Peach experience, but nair shouldn't be able to break a well-spaced uair from Falcon, and mixing up your follow-ups from down throw should keep Peach on her toes.... And stay off Final Destination.

Another problem CF has is that when he grabs the legde from being knocked away, there is no way he can get back on. If CF tries to jump, he gets a n-air in his face. If he tries to roll on the stage, Peach wave dashes backwards and d-smashes him. If you just get up straight(with or without an attack), Peach wave dashes forward and d-smashes you.

Actually, I'd say a ledgehop to uair would be pretty safe. You're under the ledge almost the whole time, and Peach is hit away so you can recover safely. Obviously it won't work every time, but like I said it's safe.

Oh ya I forgot about ledgehopping. If you ledge hop to an u-air then Peach just sheild grabs or dodges(then does a down smash).

You obviously don't play mind games. If you throw down you should maybe CONSIDER jumping at her to fast fall without an attack and hit her with something else. Or running under her and hitting her with a shuffle Uair.
If this doesn't help you then by gud you are lost.

I actually slowed my game down and I am doing much better now. When I down throw her I wait for her to n air then attack while she lags, or I n air/up air her.
All I had to do was think a little and slow my game down. I play Falcon completely offensively but I just had to adapt to the Peache's style.
Thanks for the help guys.
this is one of the most difficult matchups. your throw combos don't work well since she can nair you most of the time, recovery sucks, dsmash owns you, hard to edgeguard, etc etc.
raptor boost gives you more stun than an upthrow or downthrow, so you can knee off of it as long as you can reach her. once she goes too high, use uair. uair beats any of peach's aerials if you space it right. unless she airdodges through you, once you get her into the air you should be able to rack up some damage with it. it kills her pretty well too, once her damage gets up there. learn whether to hit up with it, or to the side (for juggling or KO).
I use uair even when peach is on the ground. if you shffl it, you should be able to avoid shieldgrab with a roll. and if it does hit her, you can chase her and keep her airborne with more of them.
if she pulls a turnip, run in for the knee. she has lost a lot of her options, and she can't throw the turnip diagonally up at you when you're coming in. you have to start going in for it as soon as she pulls though.
if she is CCing, use dair and then knee.
from a throw, use uair. you will rarely be able to land knee if she knows the matchup well. get good with your uair.
this is the best advice I can give. this is a terrible matchup for falcon. oh, try and contact darkrain. his main is falcon and he is good against peach with him. I wonder what advice he would have.
