I was looking for some DK strats, but found this forum empty. . . where is Mike from canada when you need him dammit!

There's the suicide strategy: grab someone, run off of the edge, and hope for the best...

That's a not very good strat at all though. I mean it barely even works when you don't have to fall the entire way down and can just walk to the blast line. But even then >90%, the person will break out of it.
As for strats, bair and uair are his best moves by far. Shffling a bair string is decent and it has a really good range so that's a nice thing to do.

This string of shffled moves can really improve your game. But also, you can focus on his great u-air too, grabbing an opponent at low damage, throw up, u-tilt, u-tilt, u-air, u-air. This combo works to build up damage, but also sets up for a string of shffled bairs. Many kills occur from the u-air string due to his amazing u-air.
Not to be neglected should be his nair too. It is nto very powerful and doesn't have knockback, but it can be used as a combo starter due to its slow lag (even slower when you L-cancel it). I use the nair to help set up a grab of a shffled bair string.
If you really want to play a good DK, L-cancel like crazy.

dk has a good throw combo. just grab, then a left/right grab (the one where he can move with the char) then jump, up throw him, then up ariel. very good imo. obviously doesnt work vs like a samus.
also charge his neutral b when you get a kill.

I went through a kind of DK phase actually. I don't play him too much anymore, but I can still give advice. Yes, shuffled aerials are quite good. One tip to avoid shieldgrabbers is to try to make your move so you land behind your opponent. Even with L cancelling, there is a bit too much lag with DK, especially fair and dair.
Lightshielding is kind of a must for DK, because of his massive simian body. If you use a full shield you'll get hit more often than not.
Tilts are probably the most major part of DK's ground game. You can CC to a down tilt, follow it up with another down tilt and then a forward tilt for some good damage and a little space to move. The up tilt is good for juggling most characters, and for floaties you can up tilt and then do an uair juggle.
For his smashes, I haven't really found a ton of use. Uair and up tilt are nearly always better options than the up smash. Forward smash is pretty slow but a good KO move if you can pull it off. The only use I've found for the downsmash is to KO those pesky rolling Pichus and such.
I've found the most useful throws to be back and up, or carry to up throw for fast fallers.
That's pretty much all I have, plus I have to leave now. Hope this helps.

u cant just have a dk formula. he varies a lot depending on what char he facing. say ganondorf, u cannot challenge him with forward airs, becuz ganonz will rock u. so instead u have to play hit and run with really good spaced back airs (this is very stressful!). but say u r fighting marios or links though who's forward approach isnt that great (or rarely used) u can throw some forward airs at them.
forward air and down air have really good stun if u hit someone standin on the ground with them. props them up for whatever u want.
also u cannot tilt whoever u want. try tilting a falcon and he will knee u pretty bad usually. like u can forward tilt to cancel out pills and the link gadgets and even missles, but vs a lot of chars they only effective offensively at higher percent (so they dont strike u back after u use it).
basically i sayin u gotta train vs all the different chars and know what yur gameplan should be for each one. no i not writing a fAQ! so know what moves to restrict and abuse. and learn the priorities of course so u dont look like a noob when u try to neutral air peepl yet u keep getting hit! and pay attention to percent. this affects yur throw junk, so dont be goin for goofy up air combo if they at 150, just back throw them! likewise dont do a backthrow in the middle of the stage when they at 30!

Dk's aerials have massive power, and decent speed. I don't play DK often, but I'm a big fan of his air moves. There very impressive.
Watch some Mike vids, and you'll see what I mean. ;)

DK is awesome! I mean that in the sense that he is fun to use. His air juggling is the way to go. You can do cargo-upthrow to uair even against medium weighted, non floaty characters. You probably won't be able to repeat uairs like with fastfallers, but it still racks up some nice damage. You can space fair to land just out of shieldgrab range. And an extra against fastfallers: If you've just killed a fastfaller and have your b punch charged up, when your opponent comes back grab them, cargo, up throw, and release the giant punch, it will hit for sure against fox and falco. Around the 20%s or 30%s with fastfallers, you can uthrow to dsmash
Use bair to edge guard. Bair goes through some recoveries, and when your opponent is off the edge, you can jump off backwards, bair them, then use your second jump and up B (if necessary) to edge hog. An easy kill against most characters at the percentages that it works (The percentages when your opponent is likely to be off the stage).
Someone asked before if anyone plays DK for main. I don't, but he is definitely one of my better characters.
I might write a DK guide... Just need to get some things cleared up, like priority and such.

I cant believe I havent seen this thread til now. DK is the man. One of my top 5 characters. I wont say much now, because I'm at TAFE, but I will back up the use of bair asa a good edgeguarder. It cuts straight through the majority of up-b's (and moves for that matter) in the game. Very fast, very lethal. A preferred methed of mine to keep the space animals from Fire Foxing/Birding to safety.
