Tell me what kind of match-up should I be looking for with this one? Does he get raped or what?

Falcon doesn't get raped by Marth. I like to think the matchup is roughly even, and can very easily go either way.

I agree with soberfox, the matchup can go either way. Stage selection can have a lot to do with it, and there is one main thing each character needs to focus on in order to *help them* win. Marth needs to concentrate on spacing, and C. Falcon needs to concentrate on creating openings for himself. Of course, it's much more complicated than that, but whatever.

mindgames hold a huge part in this match up.

If your playing with Captain Falcon, you cannot hesitate for a fraction of a second. If you stall, or wait too much then attack, you'll most likely get cut.
You gotta be careful, you can get juggled by Marth's up tilt, not as much as Fox or Falco (CF seems to DI out of it with more ease), so you don't wanna go over Marth too much. Tippers are very mean to CF. (mean 4 everybody, but a LOT to CF)
Once you get out, it'll be kinda hard to come back, so you should try to tech on the edge if needed =/ (yeah I know, still you should practice). And when you tech, don't walljump (in other words, don't hold up) cause then you'll have to up+b really high, thus getting raped.
If you get smashed, hold up towards the stage, and recover as well as you can.
Seize your oppotunities. When Marth lands after an attack or whatever, rush him, but don't be a fool. Go for a grab, or an sh aerial. Try to vary your approach if he sh fairs again after the landing. Attack between the fairs and don't hesitate, because there isn't much lag between the fairs. You might wanna get a head start. If something goes wrong, retreat.
Dashdancing will be very useful, try to develop your dashdancing to be able to lengthen it either way (e.g. short when going forward, long when retreating). Sometimes, you can even stick in a raptor boost in there.
Practice your nair combos. You shouldn't abuse the nair though like you would against another char with lesser range, because.. well while you flap your legs in mid-air, Marth can just slash you away. You can work it after a throw or anytime you see fit.
You can chain Marth with dthrow. Then at higher %s, dthrow into fair works fairly well. Still, if he DIs awkwardly, you can dashjump and sh uair or bair him into the pit.
So mostly, the thing you wanna do is get inside and strike as swiftly as you can, and capitalize on the occasion where you can deal a lot of damage. You can chain 3 bairs in a row against Marth and his weird floatiness. My 2 cents.

hey have you seen the moast 3 vids?
finals: isai(falcon) vs ken(marth) "insert number here"
isai's falcon looks for every opening he can, then shffl dair combos ken whenever he can.
throwing the occasional raptor boost(b-side) also works into a knee
dont spam the dair though, marth can wavedash into up tilt and punish you for it

ok with that said... could we discuss some Stage selections that favor C. Falcon.

Big stages favor Falcon, gives him more room to run and less time spent edgeguarding.
Kirby64 and Pokestadium especially, and it's pretty even on FD IMO. Falcon can move around easily, but he also doesn't have near as many approach options without platforms.
Basically when CF is off the stage against Marth he is dead, so big stages have a larger center area where you can try to concentrate the fight. Stages without edges also are good, as you can't be edgeguarded there.
For example, CF rules on Onett, cause you can stay in the center most of the time and he's the hardest character to KO vertically.
The same might be true on some other stages without edges (but to a lesser extent, it's harder to stay in the middle of them than it is Onett) but I haven't tested/seen it, I'm just theorizing.
I do know that MKI is horrible for Falcon though (at least for me). You can't even shorthop under bricks without hitting them, really screws up you game, since it's 80-90% aerial.

Your totally right about the MK1 although the bricks are fine to tech with. Ok but one more question before you get offline for the night. Could C. Falcon be of good use on those smaller stages lets say FoD. I personally dont have any problem with that stage (although I haven't faced to many Marths on it). Is he really bad on small stages or is there some way that he can manage to pull out a win besides being the obvious (more skilled) than the other player?
