i've always played falco since the first day that i've unlocked him and i normally don't have any troubles with most characters, but recently my friend who plays luigi has gotten much better. he has turned his luigi into nothing but a falco counter. i cant get out of his downsmash combo's or his sex kicks. he usually finished them off with a well placed chop or an up-B. any idea's on how i can stop his fury?

Flaocs lasers tend to rape luigis recovry and luigi isnt that hard to knock off in the first pace so just try and knock him off and interfere his recovery

I'm not sure how good either of your tech skills are... but I think some simple strategy can push the fight into your favor.

Definately blaster spam him. Short Hop Blaster preferably, so you can manuver around while doing it.

Luigi tends to be rather sluggish in the air... and with blaster pressure, that's exactly where he's going to have to go to close in on you.

From there you have several options, depending on how he approaches you. Since Falco can jump and land very quickly, you may be able to get a quick neutral air or back air in on him.

Since falco's off the ground jump is really high, and he lands pretty fast, you could try getting above him as he's landing and coming down on him with an l-canceled down air. I don't think luigi has anything that can stand against that move short of avoiding it or shielding it.

If he likes to land on you with an air move, but doesn't l-cancel or fast fall, you may be able to grab him. I don't know any good Falco grab combos, but hey... free damage.

Depending on how he comes at you from the air, a good ole wavedash back into foward smash can work wonders too.

If he's good at wavedashing around with Luigi, then you're probably going to lose to him in a ground battle, that's why the blaster is so important. His movements become fairly predictable once he's airborn, so make sure that's what you capitalize on.

SPIKING LUIGI DESTORYS HIS RECOVERY WITH AERIAL DOWN A!!!

Use the aerial A down for some good combos as well..

Falco has the best dair in the game(opinion). It wouldnt hurt to exploit that, im pretty sure if you do a rising spike it can kill luigis forwardB so you gould use that if you dont want to shffl spike at the edge (like a loser). falco owns luigi so bad on the ground luigi has to start a dsmash chain or sex kick to even get a hit in, CCed dsmashes are a real pain for falco, but can be dealt with by using diar(best one in the game of course) or just sh shining him to uair. Luigi is a cakewalk, if you happen to get caught in a dsmash chain, DI away, faaar away, and when the finisher comes try your best to DI up and shine him before he can hit you.

thanks for the help... i still beat him almost every time, but it's getting closer for him winning. he has mastered wavedashing all over the stage and that was annoying, but now he wavedash into a grab and thats very annoying. he really likes to shield grab also. if i can land the downspike while he is on the ground so he gets put in the air, i normally get a good 30-50% combo on him and if he shields it i try to l-cancel it into a downsmash. i attempt to l-cancel about 50% of the time, but i don't think he ever does so i will keep that in mind and use it to my advantage.

no not l-cancelling, SHL isn't fit for my game. i shoot like 2 or 3 shots per game MAYBE. i know i should l-cancel more and i'm practicing on that, but SHL isn't for me. oo and andrew spams the tournips quite a bit, like the luigi spams the whorenado. lol. are any of you guys gonna be at smym3?

a falco who doesn't SHL isn't gimped, but it sure limits your options, ESPECIALLY on FD. Falco doesn't have the easiest time approaching every character, so SHL makes up for it.

anyways, back on topic: Luigi relies on trading hits for damage: crouch cancelling, sex kicks, and shield grabs. You need to add more "canned combos" to your arsenal. You NEED to deal damage without giving the oportuinity to trade hits. Run away after a combo if you have to.
