GW low tier??

To preface my thread:

I first got the game maybe 3(?) years ago and i experimented with maybe 5 characters the first few months before i chose Marth, and ever since I've been Marth. I got pretty good but off some random whim I decided to change to GW.

GW FREAKING OWNZ! And i'm wondering why this pimpmaster is low tier. I think he's better than fox. any explanations? thx

top tier characters are easier to use... shiek, fox, marth, and they have incredibly strong moves.

A G&W player who has been practising for months can be beaten by a shiek player who been playing for a few weeks- thats why he's not top tier.

Even so, on a high level of play it has less to do with the characters and more to do with the player, G&W also tears apart fox (the second highest tiered character) so he's actualy quite good for a low tiered character.

Game and Watch is very hard to master mostly because of his slow attacks.
But i've never actually seen a good GW player.

gw is low on the tier list because despite what you and i so sorely wish to be true, he is actually in the scheme of things not very good. like any other character, it all depends on who is playing, but as characters go, there are better ones. marth for example, has more range, more power, is quicker then gw, and overall, has many more options for what he could do in any situation then gw does.

and everyone who answered before me seems to think that the tier list is based on ease of use, and this is not true. fox is actually one of the hardest characters in the game to use to his full potential. and despite what everyone thinks, you cannot become a world class shiek overnight. it takes a lot of practice and knowledge to be truly GOOD with her, not just some tilt comboing moron who would get torn up at any tourny.

in addition to what footnbase has said, gw is also cursed with a terrible shield and he is extemely lightweight. Any character with a strong up ko move has a decent advantage against him, he belongs in the low tier for a reason.

I saw one of Chu Dat's vids...he's not bad...and I bet CJ could fare well

He dies easy and he has no moves that are seemingly unbeatable (like Sheik's fair or Peach's Dsmash or the shine)

In all honesty I think his only good moves are fair, nair, fsmash, and dtilt. But fsmash and nair are both pretty slow.

edit: he's fun to use though.

G&W is awesome. I know why he is low tier.....but I use him anyway. It's like CORY and his Pichu...if anyone has seen him play, it's just for a few laughs and sometimes it can make an awesome match. I love people's reaction to him.
G&W, you may be low tier, but you'll always be top tier to me baby! lol

most people tend to play gaw for a quick novelty/joke factor and not to use him for any other purpose. The novelty factor works, but you also need to be able to back your game up with sheer skill to overtake your enemy.

I just used him a few days ago (for fun) and his Down Tilt AMAZED ME! I want to get good with him...really really badly. It'll take practice, but it'll be worth it.

Because marth can tipper him like at some low percent around 75? fox's upsmash will kill him there too? The fool dies really easily, his offensive is amazing, but he just dies too fast even with gerat DI, that's why he's low tier IMO. He'd be around mid if he doesn't go flying off that much.

Well, ovbiously. I was just trying to answer the question of why he isn't middle tier, and I listed the main thing that causes the gap. No one's trying to play the if game.

Well, if you really think he should be higher, post well, and apply for the SSBR so that you can attempt to influence the next tier list. But I see no other uses for this topic.
