I have noticed that when you perform a shine while running and slide off the edge the very frame the shine animation comes out that he is in shine position but there is no shine around him, much like link's ^b when you dash/wavedash off a ledge, it looks like when you're out in the magnifying glass and spinning within the shine, it's pretty cool.

As for the easy edgegaurd, if you're very close to an edge, DD next to it first toward it, then right before you slip off dash in the other direction and he'll slip off and grab on, this doesn't only work w/fox i imagine, but oh well...enjoy.

Thanks for sharing this information,

Although the invisible shine is known, I'm not sure many people know about pivoting for edge hogging. Edge HOGGING, not edge guarding. Edge guarding is when you stay near the edge and try to keep the opponent off. Anyway, the pivot edge hog is useful for Fox players, but it's really hard (I'm assuming you're talking about the pivot to edge hog).

The pivot to edge hog is ACTUALLY done by dash dancing close to the edge, and then before you fall off, you hit the opposite direction for a very short time (one frame). This will cause Fox to return to the standing position, but because of his momentum, he'll slide off onto the edge.

If you look in the Melee Discussion forum, there is a topic I made called Instant Edge Hogging... The discussion that went on in that thread is very useful (especially for Fox players). It lists different methods of edge hogging out of a dash. I guy named Reik figured out how to do some really cool stuff with the shine too. Reiking... Go there and READ IT!

i actually didnt know about that invisible shine thing. im not sure if it has any real purpose, but its still cool

reiking is tough. it has its uses but i think that WD to edge hog is easier, more versatile, and more reliable unless you can somehow get this down consistantly
