need alittle help with falcos SHL...

hi i'm a new user here, but have been playing this game since it came out and I consider myself pretty good. I use wavedashing, mindgames and shffls quite often, I mostly use marth. alright with the introduction out of the way. when i use falco's short hop laser, I can SHL in one place just fine but when i shl while moving foward sometimes he will all of a sudden turn around and start shooting and moving in the other direction :confused: . i dont do anything different with the analog stick he just turns around.

That's really weird he would do that, you must be accidentally hitting the analog stick backwards at one point. Here are the steps to doing a forwards SHL:

1. Short-hop and tap forward at the same time.
2. RIGHT after you let go of the control stick, hit B.
3. Fastfall, and time it so that the laser gets as close to the ground as possible.

I hope that helped, that's how I do forward shl. Another way to do it is just to run and do an SHL, it'll teach you the technique a little faster I suppose. I think the most important part is to MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HIT B AND FORWARD AT THE SAME TIME, or else you'll Phantasm.

What you were doing was probably short-hopping and hitting the OPPOSITE direction, and then hitting B and fastfalling. Just hit the direction you are facing, and your forward SHL should be fine in no time.

If you continue to have problems, make sure your control stick isn't loose. Sometimes if the control stick is broken, the character tends to move a little by himself, making him turn around during the SHL.

I used to have this problem with a lot of my controllers. GC controllers have a piece of crap control sticks, cheapest things ever. Sometimes because of my dash dancing, I break the control stick and then I gotta go out and get a new one.

I turn around during my SHL sometimes...

--but I know it's not my controller, it's just that when I FF my thumb doesn't slam the control stick straight down, it's slightly to the left, just out of habit i suppose. kinda weird. So my left SHL is better than my right SHL....

then again my right wd is better than my left wd...

to SHL while moving forward you need to do a dash->short hop.

Also, I don't have this problem with SHL, but I do know that sometimes while pill rushing with Doc I'll turn around when I pill...this is because I'll slam the control stick to the right to dash, then I jump and then when I release the control stick, it snaps back, and actually goes past neutral, so it registers as a left input, and I end up pilling left. so just be careful, and you might want to actually move the control stick back to neutral with your thumb, instead of just letting go and letting it snap back.
