I would like having meetings every week the best, but then again if we had them every week I probably wouldn't come to all of them.

This is Nich Allan if case you were wondering.

you shouldn't use smashboards as your own private bulletin board.

Hat Hair

Okay, thanks for giving a reason as to why not.

...Um, it's pretty obvious. It's -not- your own private bulletin board. It really isn't appropriate, or even practical. Eh. Though the Socal Biweeklies thread is -kinda- like this. Dunno. I just don't think it's practical.

*shrug* Mods rarely close anything in this area though. And I doubt they would even if it was found. So whatever.

For the exact reasons you provided I created this thread. Also, who's really hurting on account of its creation? I wouldn't think many, but, evidently, some people just can't mind a thread that they can't really be a part of.

Please, report me to the mods so that they will issue me a warning and close this thread as it is in violation of...oh, wait a minute...there are no rules for this forum!

Nit-pickers...gah!

I don't see anything wrong with this as long as it stays smash-related, in fact I think it would encourage more of our Norcal nooblets to check out the discussions on the boards to improve their game to tourney level.

BTW, I live in Novato, in case anyone wants to play me sometime, it's not realtively far from Sonoma considering I have to drive an hour to play anyone as of lately, and I can probably teach you some things ^_^

Hell yeah it is...^_^

So I talked to Mr. Koepp today, and with the exception of a few, b-day Thursdays are chill for us to meet in addition to the b-day Fridays originally scheduled. Thursdays will be "for fun" days, whereas Fridays will be tourney-driven.

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday. :)

Bump...

But seriously....

Guess who? It's Iron Jack! (aka: Ben), club offical of Club Melee.

And it's Luigi, not Mario you n00bs!

So anywho...this club is the sickesT! (with a capital T)

As far as we can tell, there will be a tournament on Friday (assuming we officers and el president get our gluteous maximuses into gear). This tournament will be team based. Teams will be of four or five. I suggest that all of you begin searching for your team ASAP. This is not offical news, but there will be updates after our "meeting" on tommorrow (Thursday).

Smash you all there!

Next Friday.

Point of clarification: All meetings are held on the last b-day of the week. This week, it's Thursday. Got it? Good. BYOC.

Hold on here. A Smash club? In Sonoma?! I live in Napa, like friggen 20 minutes away. Get me in on this. How do I join?

Iron Jack
02-02-2006, 11:26 PM
Well it's a school club. The teacher that has sponsored the club cannot be there after school, so we only play during lunch. If you could make it to our lunches, then you are more than welcome to come ;)

The Triscut
02-04-2006, 09:42 PM
If anyone wants me on their team for the tournament just tell me, I don't have one at the moment.
This is Nich Allan.

In other news I think that if other people out of town want to join our ssb club we should find somewhere that we can have meetings after school. If we had after school meetings I would bring a TV and gamecube.

Hat Hair

If you were informed that we will be holding a team tournament, then by team, whoever told you meant crew - a group of four or more people going at it 1v1 against another crew with 20 stock divided amongst the players.

Unfortunately, our next meeting will not be featuring crew battles. Instead, I'd like to get a 1v1 tournament going. It won't employ a ladder system, but rather, the mlg setup in that everyone plays everybody and for each win you recieve one point. The person with the most points at the end of the day is the winner. Also, it'll be best 2 out of 3, and as such, level selection will go: random, loser, loser.

Start training, and I will call anybody who I need a Cube from.

The Triscut
02-06-2006, 12:36 AM
we should have a crew tournament thing soon. Those are cool.

It...really wouldn't be hard to start up your own board (proboards, for example...) so that you guys can do announcements and what not there...seeing as how no smashboard members are allowed to just waltz right into your highschool, with the exception of your schoolmates. At least with Ken's biweeklys, he's inviting all smashboard members and friends that live in the socal area to come on down...

Do what you want, though... :ohwell:

I'm bad at making plans for stuff like this, but we go to Sonoma Valley High School and I'm sure that we would be able to set up some kind of after school thing, but we need some suggestions as to where we can meet. My AIM name is also The Triscut if you want to talk quick like, and I could give you some other peoples names.

You, on the other hand, make a good point. As such, I commend you. However, I'm quite pleased with what I've got going at the moment and will continue my course until it's brought to my attention that this thread is really a problem. And I'm actually working on making it so that my club isn't restricted to just my schoolmates. These two that have come out of nowhere challenging my members left and right intrigue me...

thekyelur
02-07-2006, 12:55 AM
Is that so?

Iron Jack
02-08-2006, 12:48 AM
Ok...Triscut isn't in Hat Hair's "crew". I've actually never seen Triscut play. Now if you want a big challenge, I'm sure we can arrange a powerful crew. Our "crew" isn't crazy good. I myself don't even own a cube. But we'd really enjoy playing you guys.

We live in Sonoma. Sonoma is in...Sonoma County! It's north of marin county, which is north of SF. We're about an hour north of the golden gate bridge. I've never heard of Perris...so we probably don't live anywhere near each other. But if we do, and you wanna fight...then bring it on!

The Triscut
02-08-2006, 04:38 PM
We need to have a well organized tournament within our school club to decide who are the best smashers.

I'll leave this open simply because there's no harm in using this to organize meetings to play Smash. In fact, that's why we have the forum. :) Just don't make a new topic for every meeting or anything like that.

Iron Jack
02-15-2006, 11:52 PM
Hey! What's going on? Mr. President! Get your butt into gear. We need to act like a real club, and not a casual get-together. Get a tourney going...post on this forum.

Let's stop slacking!

I have a suggestion for this message board. Every time you, Eric, change the main message you should put like a date or something so we can tell if there is something new.

I am sick and tired of more than half of the club not being on here. As such, the results from the upcoming tournament will be posted on here as an attempt to get more members on here.

Tomorrow there won't be a meeting, unfortunately. There will be a two-day tournament next week during both Wednesday and Friday's lunches. It will also be free, so yeah...no excuses for not coming!

****it, Pat, make minimize your sig!

For Christ's sake...

Can I get some ideas from you kids as to how to better assemble a list of people who will be competing in my tournament? Currently, the sign-up sheet is on the wall next to Mr. Koepp's classroom's door--clearly not the best location.

Hat Hair
02-21-2006, 07:45 PM
Tomorrow will be the first of a two-day singles tournament. Below is what you need to know:

-The tournament will be free
-It will be run using a bracket system
-Double elimination (if you lose, you go to the losers bracket, and if you lose there you're out)
-Best 2 out of 3
-4 stock
-8 minute time limit
-Stage select will be like so: Random (unless you and your opponent can agree on a level), loser, and if necessary, loser
-Only the legal stages can be played: Final Destination, Battlefield, N64 Dreamland, N64 Kongo Jungle, Fountain of Dreams, Yoshi's Island, Onett, Mute City, Rainbow Cruise, and Poke Floats
-You may choose to ban one of the aforementioned stages during your fight and your opponent may choose to do the same
-Blind character select is fine (what you do, basically, is tell one of the officers what character you'll play, and once you do you must choose that character. Only once both players have told an officer what character they will be playing do the players choose their character.)
-You can change characters in between matches

And that's it! Come and have fun.

Ender, if you're reading this, I don't think that you're really a jerk. Sorry about that, and good stuff at Kizzo's tourney. :)
